Crypto music ...

Postby Splitpin » Thu Jan 26, 2023 5:55 pm

Personally, I think this guy is the greatest poet of the 20th century...but some of his stuff is so open to interpretation, and that's interesting.
I think I know who the "Joker man" is, but it's the connection to the artist that interests me..... what inspired that song etc etc ...off on a tangent again sorry ....

Well there's clearly a biblical connotation, and Rob Zimmerman was so infatuated with himself that you could easily jump to a conclusion.
I never did like the little squirt, because he plagiarised so much and claimed it as his own.
However: the other day I had cause to listen to a remastered Tidal stream of Blonde on Blonde.
(I had ignored the album mostly because of my inbuilt bias.)
It's a work of musical genius.

Charl "It's never too late, y'see, to re-live your entire life within the miracle of modern technology." Damm, right it's never too late, I try to learn or understand something new every day.

From the earliest days of the Protest era through into the 1970s, there was a lot of brilliant urban poetry, satire, and social comment - none of your doof-doof pizza delivery noise, just melodic witty songs. Tom Paxton is still soldiering on and he's even older than me :o
Dylan was one of the best, but I can't really get on with his later stuff.

From 1966 - I thought it was older - but over half a century ago and the powers that be have just not listened :swear:
