Postby ZK-DWF » Thu Apr 21, 2022 3:25 pm

Here's an invitation to join our group VFR flight on the evening of 1 May 2022 (Sunday) starting at 7.30pm (NZDT).

Departing from where we landed last time, Hokitiki Airport (NZHK), and ending up in the back of beyond, at Haast Airport (NZHT).
First stop along the way will be a landing at Franz Josef Aerodrome (NZFJ).
Then a short hop over to Fox Glacier Aerodrome (NZFO).
Then follows a stiff climb to have a look at Mount Cook, and a steep descent to land at Mount Cook (NZMC).
Then the final leg west to Haast, with some spectacular vistas to be seen of the Southern Alps.

Should take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Suits GA aircraft.

Flying will be in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Server is South East Asia.
Time set is 1200 hours (noon NZT)

Using Discord 'Long White Cloud' Server for voice traffic. Please try and have voice available. It makes its easier for everyone to know what's going on.

See you there, Dave (ZKDWF)

Usual 'Three Musketeers' on Sunday's trip - Dave, Jeff and Robin.

We all had problems landing at Fox Glacier (depending on what scenery you were using). The default scenery has a rather large hump halfway down the runway, as some found out too late.

Flying out of Fox, we all had to circle a while to try and get over Mount Cook.
Then, out of Mount Cook, we had repeat the process to get over the Alps, and onto Haast.

Here's some pictures...

Pays to have the correct scenery ... he he !!

This was sure one climb ...

Crossing the Alps to Haast was absolutely stunning ...
