Well, here we go again ...2022 this time. They( years) seem to be going faster and faster, or is that just me.
I have to be honest, I'm glad to see the arse end of 2021....come to think of it, I recall similar sentiment for 020,019
But being an optimist I'm hoping for the best, for myself and all of you...happy new year

Looking back...
... it seems that the end of 2019 was the last of my; "normal life", since 1934!
Nothing will ever be the same again, I fear!
Example: My internal combustion engine motorcycles, will be banned for use on the roads very soon...
...together with most petrol and diesel motor cars, etc...both new and old...
It's going to be a whole new world, and I am very grateful that I experienced the best of it, 1934- 2019, in my lifetime!
I'm not expecting very much; "fun" for the rest of my life, I fear!
The year 2022, and following, is a trip into the unknown!

Paul, I'm not really sure what to say, old chum. As I said on the chat line, I get a bit like that from time to time.
Although I'm younger than you, I do have similar thoughts. I'm 8 months away from reaching retirement age, I've just found out I have a heart complaint that may not allow me to have my second vaccination...discovered after an adverse reaction to the first one....that really concerns me.
I haven't saved as much money as I should have over the years, and that worries me.
I worry that the world is in a major, moral, financial, and even cultural meltdown .....some might say the end of times, at least as we know them.
But, I don't think it's time to die Paul ..... You or I...might even be a time to fight (just saying)

I do understand you have been at the crease much longer than me and see things from a different perspective...... but, kick the black dog in the balls, raise your middle finger and piss this generation off for another few years, I plan to.

Remember, you have a large fan base here Paul ....

Arseholes isn't it? My wife has had a reaction to her first and though there was 'nothing wrong with her' the doctors told us to cancel the family camping trip over Christmas so we weren't too far from primary medical care. Heart pains, random pains down her left side (which any medical professional will tell you in usually heart related), breathlessness and exhaustion. Been like that for several weeks now but of course 'not related to the vaccine' so say the doctors ... :-|
Not a good start to the year. She has forced herself back to work and in theory come 17th Jan was supposed to be fully v'd or lose her job - if that happens we'll need to sell up; there's nothing spare in the kitty.
Its crazy times isn't it....?!!

Although having generated a large family of children, (5 at the last count, 3 boys, two girls), all reaching retirement ages themselves now, I have been living entirely on my own for the past 40 years, (or even longer!), and enjoying every minute of its peace, quiet, and utter tranquillity, (with loadsa savings!), and the thought of accidentally being trapped by a new female terrifies me...so I mostly stay safely indoors now...apart from chatting to the lovely check-out ladies at Sainsbury's when I visit on my trusty motorcycle!...LOL!!
I have discovered that I can do exactly the same things that wives do; cooking, washing, cleaning, (dusting, on occasions), etc, so I think to myself...(as I do)...why go and spoil it all!...LOL... ... ...!

Stuff which exasperates, (today's big word!), me now, since the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic attacked us all, and changed all our lives for the foreseeable future...>>>

Yeah, happy new year, everyone! A couple of weeks in I've opened my eyes a little to take a peek, and so far things are looking ok...
One thing obvious from this thread -- none of us are getting any younger Except Doug, of course, I mean just look at him! Congrats, Doug.
I'm at the stage where I no longer see life as a series of positive and negatives, which hopefully balance each other out. Instead, I see the negatives as just the price of living, and the positives as real gifts. I'm pissed off with covid, and the other night when we had an earthquake here I realised that another one like Canterbury would likely break me this time. But here I am living a fairly normal life, so what's the use of worrying? Still, it's a hard habit to break....

For the locals, I hope you are enjoying the summer. For those in the northern hemisphere, your next summer is getting closer.

Happy new solar revolution everyone. Let us hope that sanity soon prevails once more and we can be off on our little adventures around this ball of rock. Haven't seen my girl since March but according to some I'm 'selfish' for wanting to travel to the US.. I mean, how dare I want to maintain a meaningful relationship? Oh, I also fly for a living so I'm 'killing the planet', I like shooting military firearms so I'm 'responsible for the Christchurch shooting'.... Anyway, I'll keep doing what I do.
