Watch on youtube.com

One of the songs that I play on the guitar that takes its name from a road north of Phoenix that I regularly drive.

I've got a wee story about Lightfoot to share :) ... a few years ago I hung out with a Canadian couple in San Diego who I'd met at a hostel we were staying at, they heard Lightfoot was in town for a performance so scored some tickets and talked me into coming along. I didn't really know much about him and only vaguely knew a couple of songs but a concert is a concert right. Anyway we head along, the music was great, and during one of the breaks my Canadian friends pushed their way to the front and yelled out to him to tell them they were fans and where they were from. Next thing the three of us are asked if we wanna come back stage after the concert.

Concert ends, we head to the stage door, knock and in we go. There's a wee room with maybe 20 hard core fans and Gordon spent the next hour I guess cruising around introducing himself to everyone and having a good ole chat. He was interested to hear I was from NZ, I told him I enjoyed the concert of course but didn't let on I didn't really know the first thing about him. :D

Lovely guy, still a great performer

Hahahaha that's a great story. In the same vein, my missus met Eric Clapton a couple of years back. We were at the Crossroads Festival in Dallas TX, a great two nights of music. Highlights for me were Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Anyway, we were sitting there at the side of the stage, really close and I noticed this middle aged chap who looked remarkably like Clapton came from behind the stage and sat in an unused sound booth, he was joined by a woman who looked remarkably like Melia, his wife.... I pointed this out to the missus and she says that she's going over there. I thought she would get stopped by security for sure so I didn't go. Next thing I see is that she's sitting right behind him. When whoever it that was playing had finished she called out to him and he turned around. They had a wee chat where she thanked him for all he had done, shook his hand and he commented that he liked the Blind Faith t-shirt she was wearing. I couldn't believe what I was watching. She was upset that I hadn't followed and taken a photo to prove that it'd happened. Turns out that the security had seen it and then prevented other people from going down there.

Great replies gents, we are now all linked to some famous singers (if you follow the Kevin Bacon thing) ...evidently, we are all linked to him, by three degrees or whatever it is.
