Flightbeam NZAA preview round 2

Looks like it's getting closer.

As far as I know the NZAA is a native MSFS scenery. I think the scenery will only cover the airport itself without the surrounding area in the initial release though.

There's a big opportunity now for somebody to come up with a city addon for Auckland to go with NZAA and the soon-to-be-released FlyTampa Sydney Airport and Orbx Sydney CityScene, both of which look like they'll be fantastic. I think they'll generate a lot of interest in this region and Auckland is a perfect destination from Sydney.

It wouldn't have to be that huge because most of the Auckland suburbs look pretty good already in MSFS but the default city centre and harbour bridge are pretty awful.

Scupper, the OP here has posted some early Tower shots, so it may be that we'll see this from him. By the way, he was the force behind Flightbeam's NZAA, so I'm expecting something great to come of his skills and enthusiasm!
Oh, of course there's also the freeware Auckland objects available already, although there has been a lot of discussion recently about the legality of grabbing data from Google Earth. So Jack's original work on Auckland will be a real leap forward, no matter how far he takes it.
Jack, I did see that your name is on your profile, so I'll just call you that here as that's how I know you:)
NZAA is looking stunning, I wouldn't expect otherwise.

Wow, thanks Rob, this is awesome. I've been flying around the western states of the USA and missed this completely.

Exciting that zk_ncf plans to keep developing it, - especially Ardmore. Big thanks to him and the whole community that's producing lots of free addons :groupwave: .

The detail is incredible. Even the wiring and fuel cutoffs etc are modeled.

Hi Scupper, sorry just to clarify, I'm not part of the group who made the free Auckland Pack. The free Auckland Pack uses photogrammetry models ripped from Google Map. There are issues with doing scenery this way but there's no denying that it is very quick and very effective.

I have something to do with Flightbeam's upcoming NZAA and I'm currently making a HD model for the Sky Tower as a personal passion project, so to speak (you can check it out here if you are interested: https://www.facebook.com/StudioUplift2211)

I don't have any "plans" per se. My current objective is simply to try and finish the Tower and learn how to make scenery for MSFS with new techniques. If I could manage it I may then think about populating Auckland and Manukau with custom made models. It would be awesome if we can come up with our own Cityscape but that's completely out of the question for me, a part time amateur. :D

Yeah, my post was a bit cavalier, almost to the point of mis-information, sorry about that. I've learnt some bad habits in election year.
