South Island Airstrips

Postby AhunterG » Thu Apr 26, 2018 12:46 pm

Hi all,

Yesterday I was scanning the web for anything NZ scenery related. In my search, I came across a post on the ORBX forums where Nick Cooper replied to a NZ themed post with a bgl. file that lists/adds probably every known airstrip/bush/farmstrip and possibly a few fire towers on the South Island of New Zealand.

I dont know if anyone here has come across it themselvs?

If not, here is a link to the post where you can download the bgl. and add it to your sim: https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/134 ... nt=1192896

Instructions are one or two comments down from the file.

It really fills out the South Island, "Without this file there are 143 "cities" in New Zealand, with it, there are 396"

The strips are basic as far as I can tell, mainly just a dirt/grass strip with no objects.

Let me know what you think!

No problems Splitpin,

I wouldn't necessarily say this bgl. will help with "tidying up" NZSI ;) :D

It is a nice little addition though!

I've asked on the forum if there is one for NZNI, no response yet but my fingers are crossed.

There is one for the North Island too, but unfortunately I lost the link a long time ago. But it does exist if you look hard enough. A few of the strips do have scenery objects too, there is one near Rotorua that has a hangar with a plane parked outside and a car, and a few of the South Island ones have planes or hangars. 90% are just runways though.

Your previous 2013 Posting link which I believe contains the lost link that you mention.

Did you manage to get the link in that old post of mine to work? It didn't work for me when I clicked it just now. However, I actually think I may still have the file saved somewhere on my external hard drive so if you haven't managed to find it yet I could have a look and if I've still got it I could email it to you.

FlyingKiwi, yeah sure did and it worked a treat! Both NZSI and NZNI are now full of all the extra stips.

I followed your link which took me to your old post and the link in there took me to the ORBX forum where the zipfile is linked. I'll also have to stash them somewhere safe for when I manage to upgrade my pc and need them again.

Thanks again!
