WIGRAMS NAC engine test-bed

Postby Ian Warren » Sat Jan 21, 2017 5:50 pm

This one is real history and unbelievable it popped out, for any of you who own the history book about N.A.C's history, this one would really stand out, pleased to bump into it speaking to 'Barf' a few months back, the cabin in the back of the old 1942 GMC would have been exciting place once you strap and DC-3 engine to the back of this and started it, it would be interesting to find out how many different engines were tested on this chassis.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

;) YEAH! , I was pleased to find this still in existence, they had it stored with many other items out at Weedons , the old army/airforce storage facility. little bit of work to get it looking back into its glory.

I learned many years ago one put a low rated B-29 engine or so I was told into a vehicle specific Utah's salt lake speed champs , apparently it was fatal and the thing flew apart on itself .
