SUPERB JK B-) those Air France are a commonly known, there were only very few customers who brought the original 049 , but after sold off to the other airlines I have no listings or the variety of airlines who used them, Fly Alaska would have been an ideal airline for the type.

JanKees :D , someone was going to do the VX-6 aircraft, the two 'Phoenix' above and the other is 'Pegasus' , both these operated out of then known as Harewood airport now known as Christchurch Intl , this livery is the early 1961-66, it changed to the standard US Navy scheme from the 67 onwards Ice season were it was finally retired after 1971 season, .. Pleased you did it , Wigram was the first operating base for the US Navy using LC-47s and Neptune's , once the USN at NZCH built its infrastructure and quarters, it was a primary based for all sorts , not quite this version of 'Connie' as you would know .

MATS Atlantic .. I was ripping around the South Island today just getting familiar with it .. be looking forward to fly the C-69 'Phoenix' on my next trip , Brilliant work B-)

A thought JK :) , on the center tail, it had a US flag , currently my 'Operation Deep Freeze' book is out on loan, but the flag is half way up the tail slightly just off from the black tail lead and dose not touch the rudder.

Jan, I love to see the images, even the yellow writing is unique, I'm guessing this must have been the very first introduction livery.

The Venezuelan is ideally suited, its these far flung South American Airlines that would have picked the early Connie's , amazing to find a photo of one off the two o49's brought.
