FSX-se deletion

Postby Pato » Tue Sep 20, 2016 3:38 pm

I have FSX-se installed on my E:| drive, and I am having some difficulty removing the Program, and most of the files because of 'Steam Client Bootstrapper'. Can anyone advise how this can be achieved please.?

You have FSX-se installed on other HD? .. I would simply try the Windows 'Add/Remove program' for a start, If you have installed on two different HDs , this maybe a cause for the many problems such as were to search for the directory, may require deleting both and start again.

Normally you would 'delete local content' from the Steam Library to remove a Steam game.

Tried Add/Remove. No it was only installed on one drive. I have SSD C:| and a E:\.
I have posted in Steam Community now and perhaps they can help.

I thought I had done that but will have another go. I am not at all impressed with Steam but I guess it just takes a little time to find ones way around it.

I've just checked to see the exact steps, you just right-click on the game in the Steam Library and 'delete local content' is there. Steam assumes that because you own it, it'll always be available, so this would just remove it from your drive, I don't think it does a complete clean-up of everything.
I've always used Steam, it has developed into a great system over the years, so I tend to only see the benefits:)

I do have to install FSX-se , I brought it, but be good to see and understand its workings .. but also see if there is extra performance that will benefit me, It is weird how some programs agree with your PC.

Going away from FSX SE .. I do have two 'Steam' based programs , everyone knocked the for the operation and speed, one for example was 'BOB Cliffs of Dover' that was removed with ease , the other a WWI program , ... I was able to remove them without a problem .. I wonder if reinstalling again only to delete it again, maybe the uninstaller was playing up. .. that happens sometimes

Thanks both for your help. I have had it with steam and requested a refund. A lot of the planes I tried had blank instruments on the panels. I can't be bothered trying to sort it out and will
continue to use FSX Gold which is good enough for me.

Hopefully not aircraft you'd installed from backups -- sounds like you are were missing some gauges, which are not stored with the addon aircraft, so installing from simobject folder backups would not include them. One of the pitfalls I mentioned in your previous thread.

This is one thing pointed out with FSX-SE with many developers , the payware aircraft simply will not work , hence my hesitation with it.

Nothing was added to FSX-se from backup. I didn't think much of some of the aircraft so requested a refund from Steam. A bit disappointing as I thought it would have been at least as good as FSX Gold.

Ian, I think you are taking the right approach. Perhaps I was unlucky with the download but I just couldn't be bothered proceeding with SE.

Pato , at the moment appears all flightSim programs are at a crossroads, I know a lot of developers are questioning what or who they want to build on , with me personally I have HUGE amounts of software for FSX .. so its a real toss up, Just recent was mention a d.load for FS9 .. FSX may so if you get or go this way due it being so popular.
