Latest....

The clutch-side engine gasket has arrived, first-class post, from the lovely lads and lassies at Wemoto...>>> http://www.wemoto.com/
...so I am just waiting now for the new clutch assembly to arrive (from China?.... ...) so that I can ride my bike to my motorcycle mechanic Son's house in Gloucestershire to get the whole caboodle job done!... :D ...!

The weather is totally naff at the moment, and no motorcycling, so that ensures that I stay indoors waiting for the UPS man to knock on my door, with a parcel and a big grin!... ...!

I would like to repaint/have repainted, Daisy, gloss black instead of the well-worn (rusty in places) dark blue which she presently is....

...petrol tank, rear fender, front fender, and side panels, but I need someone who knows what they are doing regarding painting stuff!... ...!

Image

Gloss black would/will contrast nicely with all the shiny chrome that adorns Daisy at the moment!.... :D ...!

More news later.... ...!

Paul...still waiting for nice weather (and my new clutch) to arrive... .... ...!

Sunday 15th May!

Had a wonderful ride-out for a meet-up with all the bikers at Abergavenny!
The warm, sunny day brought zillions of them out to fill up the whole 'Bus park!....>>>

I took some cheese some pickle sandwiches with me (free), and had a nice cup of tea (milk and two sugars) at the 'Bus Café (£1.20).

Had a wander around all the 2-wheeled, and occasional 3-wheeled trikes, machinery, and a chatted with some of the riders.

Then off down the dual carriageway (freeway) to Monmouth, then the climb up to the Royal Forest of Dean, adorned with a carpet of bluebells at this time of year, to Coleford and Cinderford to visit some of my family, and then back home again!

The whole journey covered 130 miles, and I videoed the whole of my journey with my SJ Cam 4000 (12.3GB of video!). Far too large to upload and publish.!
I will have to edit it down to smaller chunks!... :D ...!

The curse of recorded wind noise on video recordings!
I had a peek at You-Tube to find a possible cure, by covering the camera with bits of dish-washing foam, furry stuff, etc...nothing works!
My camera is attached to the side of my open face helmet, and I figured out, in bed last night, as I do, that stuffing wind-damping stuff in and around the camera will not cure the problem.
What 'appens: The wind blows all around my helmet. That sound then travels along the camera mounts, to the outer body of the camera. It is then transferred to the inner camera body and thence to the tiny microphone soldered to the printed circuit board deep inside the camera!
All this noise is transferred mechanically through all the various mounts and the body of the camera, so no amount of stuffing stuff around the camera wont cure the problem!
The only cure is to use an external microphone with lots of furry stuff surrounding it (like proper outside sound recorder blokes use) plugged in to the camera..... ;) ...!
Its the Microphone which requires sound damping...(with furry stuff)...not the body of the camera!!

I still need to record voice-over on the video whilst I travel the road!

So...there you go...got to figure a way to scrap the internal microphone (unsolder), and plug in a quality external microphone to replace it.
Hot Solder and burnt fingers on the menu!... ...!

Paul...enjoying all the sunshine rides!..... :D ...!

You spotted them, Ian!.... :D ...!

Like a swarm of Bees.... ...!

Lots of them around, and they are very popular amongst enthusiasts!

They go out on Scooter Rides!
I quite admire them. Always give them a wave!

Paul... :D ...!

P.S...I've just edited the whole journey into three separate videos. If I can find one which is not too long I will post a Dropbox link here to it.... :wink2: ...!

Paul a good way to dampen the sound is with an external mike and tuck it inside your jacket.
I used to tuck the mike inside my flying jacket when videoing in the Tiger moth and it kept the engine noise but didn't pick up all that wind noise from the wind swirling around in the open cockpit.
May be worth a try on the bike.

Very strange that is not done on many videos to muffle wind sound .... just as bad as bloody stupid airshow music ! ... WHY that even gets played in the first place is well beyond me !

If I was a airshow organizer that would be a primary to be deleted ... figure out something .... already done, maybe a quiet narration of the aircraft involved ! .. If your lacking No ! stick your ear close to the speakers !

Hello Doug and Ian....

Many thanks for your interest!... :D ...!

The big problemo is...

Most, if not all, of these Sport Video cameras are designed to be fully waterproof, and therefore there is no provisions for "plugging in" an external microphone for obvious reasons!... :o ...!

Image

Therefore, on these cameras, the internal microphone is soldered to the internal circuit board to pick up any external sound transmitted through the body of the waterproof outer case.
In the presence of wind, these cameras will always pick the noise up, together with any "wanted" sounds.... :( ...!
The video cameras are fine for recording in still air conditions, but in the presence of wind, they will always pick it up to spoil the recording!
Many of the motorcyclists who video their journeys use an expensive Wi-Fi/Bluetooth; "Senna System" attached to their helmets to record their voice and external sounds via a microphone and earphones fitted inside the helmet.
They then add the sound to accompany their video in the final editing process.

My only low cost option is to remove (unsolder) the internal microphone from my camera, modify the outer case, and replace it with a 3.5 mil socket wired to the existing Mic connections, to plug-in an external clip microphone inside my helmet covered with wind-sound reducing covering!
There are some tips on You-Tube to enable the process with these (Go-Pro) type of cameras.

I have also purchased a very small digital "Audio Recorder" which enables a mic and headphones to be plugged-in.
The tiny recorder can be carried in the pocket, and the mic placed where it doesn't pick up any wind noise.
The sound and video can then be added together during editing!

Image

Lots of experimentation to be carried out, (as the Bishop and the Actress both agree!).... :P ...!

Of the 12 GB total of the three separate videos that I recorded of my 130-mile journey, I have sorted out the smallest of the files which include a run through the Forest Of Dean amongst the early Summer Bluebells, and I am presently uploading it to Dropbox...(It takes hours/days!!).

When it is complete I will include a link to Dropbox in this thread to show the beauty of the English Summer Countryside!

Watch this space with baited breath!.... ...!

Too right, cobber! - at Wanaka on the Sunday, the announcer was trying to interview someone worth listening to, and his colleague in the bus was mixing in some electro-jazz and you could not hear a damn word
It was like that scene in the movie of "Hair" where the General gets the whitecaps to blast the P.A speakers, because no-one knew how to turn the music off. Great satire, it was

What modifies my brain, is when someone takes an interesting video on You Tube, and they seem to be unaware?.... .... of the annoying bloody dog constantly barking in the background throughout the whole video.

I feel like shooting the friggin' dog!.... ....!

A common occurrence on motorcycle videos when the owner starts the bike up!

Background music and barking dogs. The bane of video recordings!.... :( ...!

...and there's me worrying about a bit of wind noise on my video recordings!.... ...!

Paul.... :wink2: ..... :D ....!
