Real NZ Tauranga

I got this as freeware on the recent PCPilot magazine disk. I have ORBX NZNI. Looks great but my airplane sinks below the runway. Is there something I'm not doing correctly?

The Real NZ Tauranga installer will tweak the install if it finds Orbx NZNI. It sounds like this hasn't worked, and according to the manual the first step should be simply to reinstall Real NZ Tauranga, making sure that NZNI is active.

If that doesn't help, let me know.

Ok, no worries. Elevation issues are nearly always caused by conflicting scenery files, so you should search your sim installation for 'nztg' and see what's there. We're only interested in .bgl files, although search for everything as we want to know if any have been deactivated by changing the extension.

There should be some results in RealNZtauranga\scenery, and a few in ORBX\FTX_NZ\FTX_NZNI_05_SCENERY\scenery, as well as Scenery\World\Scenery. There might be something in Orbx\Scripts as well.

The main thing to check is the FTX files in the ORBX\FTX_NZ\FTX_NZNI_05_SCENERY\scenery folder -- let me know if there are any files duplicated with both a .bak and a .bgl extension. These should all have a .bak extension, from memory, but sometimes if something went wrong with the initial TG install, they get duplicated. If you find any, just remove the .bgl files to another location to keep them safe just in case.

Let me know what else you find.

Reinstalled ORBX NZNI, problem seems to have solved itself. Good work on this remarkable Tauranga scenery by the way, really appreciated. I also really appreciated all the hard work on the FS2004 NZ scenery which I enjoyed for years too. Top shelf commitment by NZ scenery designers, exceptional talent.

I also obtained the RealNZ Tauranga Airport from PC Pilot - my first taste of RealNZ scenery! But I had the same problem as the OP - horrendous elevation issues. My solution was a little different, however. Instead of uninstalling Orbx's NZNI, I fully uninstalled RealNZ Tauranga, then installed it again "clean". (I had previously unsuccessfully tried to just reinstall it.) This time around, I made absolutely certain that the Oceania group was active in my FTX Central (it wasn't when I did the first install - that was probably my mistake). This time around, it worked perfectly, and I must say it certainly looks seriously good! The only gripe I have is that my frame rates were pretty horrible when I was taxiing around my new-look NZTG (only getting 5-10, but improved to 20+ after I took off).
