Sounds dodgy i might give that one a miss. But i am sure they have a excellent aviation Library lots of books and One about a Vulcan if i remember correctly.

Dodgy indeed .. to many reruns of aeroplane while you study , end of the day any flight school would be trumps , Christchurch Flight training out at Rangioura would be cheaper than CAC but its the extra distance out of the city that would add to the costing , guess its up to the peoples here that could give you more information .

Yup. My last one was $250, but that was before CAA decided they wanted to charge an application fee simply to apply to get a Medical
Makes it expensive to keep a CPL current. Although I'm stuffed for currency anyway, there is no way I can keep my IR current whilst job-hunting!

Hi guys,

Just an update of where i am at with my flying: I am currently in my second year at the IAANZ in Christchurch on the Air New Zealand integration course. I have completed all of my PPL, CPL and IFR exams without failing any. I got my PPL in August 2012 and passed my Cross Country flight test in December. I have been hour building since then and am about a week away from heading into the twin engine (MEIR) phase, in a Partenavia. Then after 8 weeks of that I have a couple of weeks to brush up on some upper air work before sitting my CPL Flight test; then finally do my ATPL's in May.

Amazing to think I hadn't even hardly flown 14 months ago!

Just finished off my BGT test so I meet all the minimums for Air NZ. Hopefully I aced it, only 30 questions. Mostly fairly simple but as usual ASL plays a few word games.

Then when the results are in it's off to update my application and let them know it's ready for them to check out! Fingers crossed.

Good luck, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. If you have any money left over on your student loan, try do some IFR hour building as IF time on the application is something they really look at. From what I hear the trick is to keep updating your application until you get some response out of them which will generally indicate what they are looking for i.e. email us back when you have 100 hours IFR or whatever.

I emailed them a while ago, and they told me I needed to do my BGT. So I did. I have got a bit more than usual IFR hours as CTC scheduled ATPL ground school just before my test, so I basically did the training twice (10 weeks off makes you pretty rusty!).

I managed to scrape a pass on BGT with 93%. Pretty sure I know one of the two questions I got wrong, and a bit annoyed at myself because I almost selected the right answer.

Edit: Just got another e-mail. They are looking for around 800hrs at the moment.

Hi Guys,

I'm just about to sit my cpl air law (helicopter) exam in a week. I've read through pretty much all the legislation - rules and AIP - and the only thing that is missing is doing some practice exams. Waypoints will have some mock exams available in a month or so but that's a bit late for me. Does anyone have some copies of prac exams (and answers if you have them) sitting around? I'd be soooooooo appreciative. Post or a reply or private message if you can help me out? I've been flying for a while overseas and know so well how exams are half about exam technique - and how well prac exams can help.
