I can finally say it.

Postby tomkilpatrick » Wed May 06, 2015 4:11 pm

Hey guys,

So I went flying for the first time in 14 months this weekend in a Tomahawk out Wanganui Aero Club. I only had about 6-7 hours under my belt that I got in January 2014, so I wasn't expecting much apart from a familiarization flight of the area or something. But little did I know my CFI chucked me right into the circuit, and after only doing 5 circuits, he asked me to land, taxi to the threshold of the runway, where he was going to get out.

Needless to say, I flew an aircraft solo for the first time last Sunday. It was amazing, and strangely surreal. Something I've wanted to achieve for so long, now mine.

But yeah. Hope all you guys are going well.

Cool :-)
Its a great feeling isn't it?
Happy flying, don't stop now (like I did, several times, before I finally 'got there' in microlights).

Congratulations. It's a good feeling but over much too quickly (at least that's what my memory tells me). It's the start of an exciting new adventure which I'm sure you will greatly enjoy. Cheers

Very well done, Tom - thrown into the deep end without warning, but you obviously handled it with no fuss. A lot of natural talent there.

Well done. You only get one first solo. You'll never get another one. I'm sure you'll always remember it.
