Hey ya Markus , welcome back , Its looking great B-) , I think the orange needs to be a little richer orange rather the low tanned look.

Woo Hoo,..................
My favourite era in NZ aviation,...........
NAC's "Golden Years" as they were known.
Cant wait for this paint job Markus, although do agree with Ian, the orange needs to be a bit richer or brighter. Also, the grey on the engine nacelles, wings , etc, needs to be a bit lighter.
See pic of ZK-BXE here.................

Thanks for your comments, gentlemen!

The orange shade seemed quite right to me before:

Image

What do you think about this "more fruity" tone?

Image

Image

Image

Note the grey (nacelles, wings, fuselage bottom) also lightened up a tad.

One more question:
Any idea about the lettering on those two engine access panels?

Image

Final note:
As to be seen on this great reference pic of ZK-BXE, the foremost fuselage window was covered with an ice shield panel. Although I've altered the bump map to get rid of the remains of the window frame, there's still something visible. Seems like the specular map needs a change too...

Cheers,
Markus.

Hey ya man .. love that "more fruity" tone :D , think you got it correct there .. just that "more fruity" tone , as far as those markings are concerned , they were removed , on stage had RR logos but .. I'll check up on that ... looking great Fruity :D

Edit: second look the red , very sure that was a fire extinguish panel.

For the orange somewhere between the first and the "fruity" one would be spot on imho.

Well, finding the "somewhere-in-between" those two shades wasn't too hard at all, utilizing some nerdy scientific procedures: :D

Image

To the left, we have the initial colour, to the right is the fruity one.
So I've created a colour gradient of those two shades (below) and eye-dropped the new tone straight from the middle.

Image

Still some fiddling with the "BXE" lettering above the front windows needed...

As far as I could see from the reference images available on the web, this NAC livery didn't show any additional lettering (as 'emergency exit') or (Fokker F27-) logos, not even around the main passenger door. Is that correct?
With the rather high resolution of the fuselage textures given, it's just so tempting to add readable lettering...

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks, mate!
Have a nice nap. :sleepy:

With the ice shield flattened (the bump map's alpha needed to be adjusted too) and the front window letters straightened, it's time to think about the next version.
I think I'd like to do this one:

Found at http://rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/17162 ... hip?page=1
Assuming this to be the initial NAC livery, this is the only pic I could find so far.

Any more information on this ZK-NAB variant will be appreciated!

Cheers,
Markus.

Naaah - hang on a minute:
For reasons of repaint efficiency, next one should be ZK-NAH in its 1980 NAC/ANZ transition scheme!

Not too much to alter for this livery:

Hooking into it B-) Brilliant , NAB probably one of the best photos , there was an earlier version with metallic engine nacelles and lower hull , course these were the early 100s before they got the nose job thru the late 60s/early 70s.

Is there any evidence of radar-nosed Friendships bearing this initial NAC livery?
As far as I can see, JF (or to be precise Aeroplane Heaven as designer) doesn't cover the short-nosed model. Which is kind of sad, because they look cute, just like the -100 Twin Otters.

Yes indeed , BXE and BXF sported the long nose in this livery dating back to 1967/8 , I still recall seeing the short nose during the retrofitting many times.

Any chance of an image?

All I could find was this one with the second(?), lazy-painter's livery:

For a start , :D I love that .. 'lazy painters livery' , the previous photo you had is smack on the nose , more or less exactly the same except when the aircraft was retro-fitted it still kept that livery .. as mentioned, the very early F-27s had metal nacelles polished metal part.

Re: Troopship

Postby Wildbillkelso » Tue May 12, 2015 8:55 pm

The RNZAF Troopship is on my to-do-list for sure - as long as nobody else would like to take over, since I'll be quite busy with the NAC variants.

And it goes without external tanks, at least NZ 2781 once did:
