NZRO double ups

Postby NZ255 » Sun Feb 22, 2015 12:45 pm

Hi Rob, fantastic release this week!

For what it's worth (not sure if others are have the same issues) I had to turn off 3 orbx nzro bgls...can't remember which ones, i think GP was already 'off'.

I was getting taxi sign, and fuel tanks and other objects double ups. eg yours and orbx. NZRO was at the top of the scenery list.

Cheers,
Nick

My NZRO went in as smooth as milk powder without using switch's , I have always found the Orbx switch's to be glitch,y , some other areas cause problems which require manual remove ... or even adding flatten/remove article/objects.

Hi Rob,

Installed without any probs.

The scenery you have developed is just awesome and I guess as close to the Real World" as you could get with current software!!

Thanks, guys, and thanks for the info regarding Orbx issues.

These days I do try and take the least invasive route when it comes to working with other scenery which can conflict, which means a lot more use of Excludes rather than disabling other scenery files. The only Orbx file I needed to disable on my system for Rotorua was the ground poly file, as these can't be 'excluded' like normal scenery objects.

However I don't quite know why this doesn't work for everyone, so I might have to return to the old days of 'nuking' third party scenery. This does cause a few issues, however, if the other scenery gets an update it does tend to undo any of the changes my installers make.

Speaking of which, those who had issues with an Orbx conflict, do you have the Orbx NZNI patches installed? I just wonder if they made significant changes to Rotorua in the patch...

These is a patch coming for NZRO, not to fix any errors, but because when I tested the finished scenery in Prepar3D 2.5, my optimised libraries had no shadows, so I released the unoptimised version. Now that LM have released the hotfix which fixes this, I can upload the optimised libraries, which don't make much difference, except that the shadows work better -- they don't disappear when the object casting them is out of view. This is just a cosmetic preference of mine, but it is something I like about P3D, that I can taxi into the shadow of the terminal and the shadow remains even if I 'look' away.

I might include a 'nuke Orbx' script as well, if I can figure out why this doesn't work for some.

Hi Robin

Finally back to some simming ---trying out Rotorua - had some elevation issues but rid of those by deleting Orbx files but your Airport Buildings aren't showing up?

I suspect that they are either excluded somehow, or just not active.

First, check to make sure that the folder is in the Library -- Godzone\GodzoneNZRO. If it isn't, then you'd need to add it, but you'd probably also need to deactivate the old RealNZrotorua if you have it.

If that looks ok, something is excluding it -- probably Orbx, as they tend to do wholesale excludes over large areas. In this case, it'll be a priority issue -- you would need to check to make sure that you have set the Orbx priority using FTX Central, to drop Orbx down the list so that it is below all Godzone scenery.

Paul , this is a trick. re-install again maybe twice , as silly as it sounds that is the first thing to do .. ORBX dose create some serious problems regard to the switch's and levels .

I would try the re-install a couple off times first , this has been an ongoing problem with many for some reason.

I will have to point out that reinstalling Orbx scenery is probably the most dangerous thing you can do -- any other scenery which hacks Orbx files, which is most of mine, will also need to be reinstalled AFTER all the Orbx stuff, and since there is no simple way to uninstall it, you really need to reinstall the entire sim from scratch.

Jeepers must be getting old! ...didnt see your post until now. I have reinstalled several (Rotorua - not Orbx), redownloaded, checked insertion points and made sure the priorities are right but still no buildings :ph43r:

Hmm, that's got me beat... other things to check:
Is there actually a Godzone\GodzoneNZRO folder?
Does it have a Scenery subsfolder?
Does the Scenery subfolder have files in it? How many?
Same for the Texture subfolder?

The installer should activate two different scenery folders, one is the photoscenery, and the other is the airport. It would be strange to have one and not the other, but not impossible, I guess.

The only setting which would prevent the buildings displaying is Scenery Complexity set to Very Sparse. All other settings should display something, at least.
