Not unheard off, production lines re-opened due to demand , Boeing 717/720/KC-135 was a good example, another example off the OH BUGGER wish we had not closed the line down was the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter or to expand on it, the next and cheapest choice was the stretched B .. then C and final D and only for the glass cockpit.

Not so funny, next we will see the type operated by HEAVY-LIFT 20 years down the track ... maybe lengthen the fuselage as they did with the C-141 which added almost another 120/30 aircraft to the fleet so we might see something like that in the future.

Sound a little like the local Councils, I guess maybe the could start a for hire scheme.... do the numbers , no limitations to what they can carry and with the sturdy short field ability would be an extra bonus.
