Avro Lincoln on the way from Virtavia

An Avro Lincoln on the way from Virtavia, looks pretty sweet. Would love to know more from all the warbirds fans about 75 sqn and their use of them at the end of WWII?

Interesting .... i hope they "dirty" it up a little , i love most of the Alpha/Virtavia stuff , but like just flight ...its too clean .

Strangely I'm not much off a Lincoln fan, almost as obscure as the pre-war Whitley.

Following the Lincolns history and very little off it, one thing can be said, least someone had a crack at it and with that mentality what else could be in the wings from Virtavia , a Neptune update would be superb choice .. a Martin B-26 as a newbie would rock the boat.

The Wings of the Lincoln went on to greatness though.. the Shackleton was the follow on to the Lincoln using parts of the wing and fuse

That is one aircraft I do have the is Shackleton, done by the South African Shack Group, I should dig it up and plop it back the sim.

Well, I purchased the Lincoln for a couple of reasons, it ends the Lancaster line apart from the Shakelton which the RAAF never operated but they did use the Lincoln as bomber and for maritime patrol with 10 Squadron until they got then Neptunes. Not an aeroplane that anybody really has any good war stories about so I guess it did it stuff probably unceremoniously and routinely. A bit of a peculiar aeroplane, really just a stretched Lancaster with different engines. I think they were used to drop exploding stuff in Malaya at one time but when the Canberra arrived the Lincoln was quickly forgotten, bits of one the main airframe plus some other stuff survived in bits in different places in Oz partly cause the airframe was used by the fire guys at Mascot for practice over the years and other bits survived at other places, such as the nose and cockpit section. I heard a rumour that some group was going to have a go and putting it back together but nothing seems to have come of it.

Here are some shots of the Virtavia Lincoln in RAAF colours. Nice model, basic, works fine but it was a simple aeroplane and refelects its vintage. Makes my collection of RAAF types nearly complete bar a few exotic beasts.

Looking good Bendy, yes used against terrorist Malaysia in 1949, I guess had WWII continued they would have be seen in small number, already modifying Lancaster's to suit the extra range with the Tiger Force were as Lincoln's had it built in with extra 600/800 miles extra.

Cool. Glad to see someone bought a copy. Quite like the styling of it, am tempted myself despite the history of the machine
