NZWN Elevation Issue

The official REAL NZ support forum

Hi Rob,
downloaded and installed Subscription 4 and NZWN.
Probably my finger trouble again, but I have an elevation problem, a greenish taxiway, and an airbridge that doesn't seem to be in the right place.
Any ideas ?
I don't have any legacy NZWN scenery and am running NZNI.

Cheers

Hi Phil
That's the 'transitional' aspect of the scenery -- the plan is to finish it as part of the Subscription, but at the moment NZWN is a bit of a hack, combining the old Real NZ Wellington with a few bits and pieces I've completed of the new NZWN, mixed up into something which kind of works.

The West tarmac is not even started yet, hence the rather abrupt edges to the elevation. This goes for the taxiways as well. Since the terminal is only partly updated, the airbridges don't always meet up properly.

The photoscenery -- which is the basis of the Subscription -- is a bit more complete, although it will be extended quite considerably. The airport is sort of a preview.

P.S. Just noticed that you have NZNI -- bear in mind that as I've stated in the manual, FTX NZNI users may wish to retain the Orbx NZWN until Godzone NZWN is complete.

Thanks for that Rob, explains everything, look forward to the finished airport, hope the punters catch on to what they are going to get and purchase heaps of subscriptions.
Have posted some screenies in screenshots, the photoreal is just awesome.

Rob, if I was to go back to the Orbx NZWN, what is the best way to uninstall the Godzone version.

I was afraid you'd ask me that:)
Deactivate the folder in the Scenery Library (GodzoneNZWN), remove the Godzone NZWN stub in Scenery\World\Scenery, and change the Orbx NZWN files with .off extensions to .bgl.

Hi Rob

I seems to have the same (or similar) issue, and I don't have FTX NZNI. would the issue go away if I reinstate the legacy RealNZ Wgtn instead of the new airport?

Many thanks - Ran

This isn't an issue with FTX NZNI, it is just the way the airport is at the moment. However the old Real NZ Wgtn is not at all compatible, hence the temporary version.

hmmm.... well it worked to the point that I have a flat airport, as well as the new photoscenery and autogen. I also have the 'Power Project' turbines which I need to turn off and see if the ones I just flue over are yours or theirs smile.gif

Many thanks, Ran

Good question -- provided you have set the FTX priority, using FTX Central, to somewhere below all the subscription scenery, you'll see mine, as they each have a little exclude under them.

Thanks Rob. as I said. I do not have FTX, but still have elevation issues at the new. transitional airport. As it happens, my default flight has me parked in the west apron, and I find my self in a ditch unable to taxi out. so it's back to the good old RealNZ WGTN for me for now.

best regards, Ran

Hi Rob

I also have an elevation issue but it seems more severe than the screenshots I have see so far.

I have ORBX NZNI installed. Is this normal?

Cheers,

Murray

Open up FSX, go to the Scenery folder, open World, open scenery and amend the entry ADE_FTX_NZNI_NZWN_elevation_adjustment.BGL to read ADE_FTX_NZNI_NZWN_elevation_adjustment.BGL.bak. That worked for me.

Thanks Levin.

That fixed the problem and it now looks much better.

Sorry about that, Murray, and thanks, Clyde.
I wonder how many people have problems with this? And how many don't?
I must admit that I haven't disabled this file on my system, so I didn't worry about it in the installer -- I just need to figure out why it works differently for some.
I was well-aware that I've been messing around with NZWN for so long (almost a decade) I really have no idea what changes I've made which affect what I'm seeing, I really needed a new system just to test the new NZWN:)

I have not installed your new Welly yet , I'll remove the old , obviously I use the ORBX but be interesting to see if I get a different result as I've installed FSX only two months back.

Required to remove or rename the pointed out file - ADE_FTX_NZNI_NZWN_elevation_adjustment.BGL to read ADE_FTX_NZNI_NZWN_elevation_adjustment.BGL.bak..... reported by Clyde, I simply make a folder unwanted ORBX files in that folder.

One Major improvement I have really notice is the increased Frame Rates ! and with the detail ! .. Now that is worth the cost !

I don't think you need to worry about turning files .off etc.
I've just done a test and as long as your scenery is higher in the stack it seems to ignore the FTX stuff.
eg I took the default NZWN file in ADE, adjusted the elevation to 8m. (FTX is 12 and a bit) threw an exclude over the airport and compiled it as a separate bgl so I could place it at the top of my scenery folder. 000_NZWN_Excl.
Then in my ADE file, placed a flattern at 8m over the airport. Added my NZWN test folder in FSX at the top and loaded. I didn't have any elevation issues (even though FTX elevation file was still a on) and the airport was at the correct elevation of 8m and none of the FTX objects were visible.

EDIT: Didn't mean to quote you Rob (as you said in your post you didn't touch the FTX file)
