Online in the coming days

For everything about online flying around New Zealand

Postby SeanTK » Fri Apr 11, 2014 10:24 am

Just an FYI...I may be online on Friday night my time...which is mid-afternoon Saturday for New Zealand.
Still working out specifics, but if anyone's interested, here's what I think I'll do so far:

FSX and/or DCS World (I have the Flaming Cliffs 3 module)

2200 - 2300 start time on my time on Friday night, which I believe is 1400-1500 on Saturday in New Zealand.

Need to find a server...

FSX:
Flying around New Zealand and or Australia...haven't decided on a specific route yet. I may be in either the Lotus L-39, Tu-144 (if we go long distances to larger fields), Twin Otter, or one of Carenado's smaller aircraft.

DCS:
Again, I have the Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft module pack, so I'll be in either the MiG-29, Su-27, or Su-33. I haven't flown online before in DCS, so that'll be a new experience for me.

Let me know if anyone's interested and I'll start trying to narrow down the server details and a more specific start time.

I can run the MP, set up a server , I don't have DCS and aircrafts you have mentioned, I have the L-39 and the Twotter, no Carenado types but have many many others, possibly a good one to add is the KBT Orion , superb freeware, be great to invite Hiroaki Kubota and show our appreciation smile.gif

That sounds good to me Ian. I'll try to be on starting around 10:30pm my time tomorrow (Friday), which I believe is 1430 your time (on Saturday). I'll have the L-39 loaded up with VLC New Zealand.
Feel free to let me know the server details when you can. smile.gif

So Lads..... winkyy.gif ...!

What would be the Server address to connect to, in FSX?

Presumably it wont be using our usual, various "FS Host" Servers?... unsure.gif ...!

Ian said he's hosting, so I'm sure he'll post the server info soon.
Paul, if you're interested in joining up (I know it would be some extremely odd early morning hour for you), I know that there's an FS2004 version of the L-39 available:

I will simply PM my IP address, how many are using Team Speak TS3 ? that is a primary and makes it so much more simple to pass on information and keep flights running smooth, everyone is in the loop of whats going on at the press off a button.

I'll get TS installed and tested and will report back that everything works prior to the flight.

TS seems to be working right now, but I'll be messing with it later on prior to the flight. I have a desk stand mic so I'm trying to figure out the best location for it.
(also messing with noise suppression/echo options that I seem to have in my sound settings now)

6PM, Ian...PM on a Friday for me! smile.gif

So...I'll be hopping back online a few hours from now, probably about 10:15pm in my L-39 to prepare for a flight.

If my time zone converter is trustworthy, I'll be on at 2:15pm YOUR time (on Saturday over there)!

Hello Multiplayer Chums... winkyy.gif .....

I am up a gum-tree without a set of grappling irons regarding this "LAN" Multiplayer connection malarkey!
After zillions of years of using FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX, and connecting instantly to the various 24/7 "FS Host" Servers, I am at a loss of how to connect to a private Server address at any time of the day or night!
I assume that the LAN connection can only be accomplished providing that the Host's Computer is switched on and running!
Whereas FS Host Servers are on-line 24 hours a day, ready for instant connection!

At one time we used the NZ "Inspire" Server 203.114.130.15...>>> http://nzff.org/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t5444.html but that has been unobtainable for a long time now.

(Sean will be familiar with our many various FS Host Multiplayer sessions)

At the moment, trying to connect to a private LAN Server is difficult enough....and to also include Team-speak, (and all the fiddling that that entails), is a gum-tree too far for me!

I need INSTANT FS Host connection at any time of the day and night!

At the moment I am instantly connected to "fsmpa.hopto.org" in my FS 2004/FSX, via FS Host, with no problems at all!

Life needs to be very simple for me!... laugh.gif ....!

Paul.....Multiplaying in Cal Central Valley... biggrin.gif ...!

http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/

P.S...out of interest, does anyone in the NZ Forum use one or more of the "FS Host Servers" for their on-line Multiplayer sessions?

I'll have a look at other options, we got a set running but it was jittery, this was using FShost and client, something has happening in the last few weeks - months , we may have the chance to try links out tomorrow

Hello Ian....

I got you IP address OK....but trying to attach it to a LAN Multiplayer session made my brain ache!

The advantage of the FS Host (client) sessions is that they are on 24/7, and can be spotted in the "FS Host Spy" list of players, to join-in instantly when one spots a Mate there!.... biggrin.gif ...!

There are lots of "quiet" sessions to pick from!

Paul...occasionally noisy... biggrin.gif ...!

.."Tomorrow" is always the big problem, Ian!.... laugh.gif .... laugh.gif ....!

TIME ZONES!... ohmy.gif ...!

We Ancient Brits are 12 hours behind you...and Sean it trailing even further behind!

Fortunately, I have the "Fox Clocks add-on" to my Firefox/Pale Moon Browser, which gives me up-to-date times in various parts of the World at the bottom of my Browser, at a glance.....

...ideal for Multiplayer....to make sure that everyone is awake, and not fast asleep in the middle of the night!

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... foxclocks/

Paul...lost in a time zone... biggrin.gif ...!

There are loads of "FS Host Servers" out there, ready to connect to, I just pick any (quiet) one which doesn't require a "Password"...connect in seconds with "FS Host Client" in FSX....
...and its even simpler with FS 2004!

I use "FS Navigator" RADAR for my FS 2004 sessions, and "FS Tramp" RADAR for my FSX sessions, to keep a real-time track on everyone flying in the Multiplayer session!

We tried to do a direct connection (IP connection) via the "LAN" option to each others computers through FSX with no results. Failing that, we were able to connect to the SOH server through FSHost, but both of our aircraft appeared rather "jittery" as Ian stated when flying along. Unfortunately, I think this may be an issue with how the connection is established through FSHost.
A smoother flight (as well as more options such as ATC and shared-cockpit) would be accomplished through a direct connection through FSX itself (without FSHost) but it looks like it requires someone to host a dedicated server.
After we quit for the day, I was able to directly connect (via FSX only) to a session that a website was hosting, but was unable to verify the smoothness of other players.

If we try again, it would be via an FSX-only direct connection, and I would recommend going through the following website to find a session:
http://www.fsopen.co.uk/info/sessions/

I successfully connected to the "FSFlyboys Community" session through the above service.

One one thing that got me the fact using the LAN connection only recently, with the last month, why would it be or shut down - Gampspy went now the LAN connection, Ill ask ZKBOB , he runs with a lot off guys from with a lot in the US and the UK was also in on the flights.

I wonder if the cause maybe another Microsoft SP patch muck up ?
