Hi all
Uninstalled fsx from the program (86x) folder and went to reinstall FSX in the program folder. Ran the first disc and changed the directory so that fsx would install in to program folders ,put in the second disc but got an error

"ERROR 0x80040702 failed to install DLL.GameuxInstallHelper"

Re tryed putting in disc 2 again but got the same error message

Anyone had this issue

FSX is a 32bit application (x86) and cannot be installed in the normal C:\Program Files\ folder as this is reserved for 64bit applications (x64). I suggest you either keep it in C:\Program Files (x86)\ or put it in it's own folder, e.g. C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Thanks sOcks
Read that installing FSX in the (86x) program folder should be avoided. So I should just put it into C:\ Drive with out any issues

In that case bung it on the C:\ drive - should be all good. As you are running 64bit I suggest downloading the uiautomationcore.dll as per this thread: http://forums.flightsimlabs.com/index.php?...-stop-crashing/

The direc tdownload link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mik2mlqdz1w

Save it to your FSX folder otherwise you'll probably experience frequent crashes.

Install into C:\FSX is the simplest, and makes installing add-ons easy! No need to remember a complex and long folder path.

Thanks guys
Re installed FSX into C:\ FSX folder, no issues with install. I have noticed that my desktop icon has changed to blue square with a white plane on it. The other icon was an gold X on a white background not sure if this has any significance
