The A-H website is still open, and there are some freewares on there including La-9. It flies pretty good in FSX, i am running acceleration with no problems.. The paints are fantastic and it includes the now departed kiwi flier

Yeah the AH LA-9 works a treat in FSX, nice external model, passable VC and decent 2D panel.

Sorry , but I can´t tell something about this Lavochkin-Fighters. It was one of the first products of Bear Studios. I have from them the MiG 15, MiG 17 and the J-10... good aircraft. I like them.

Never saw that one from the Bear Studios cool.gif

Its amazing reading the history of Semyon Lavochkin , untrusted and unworthy worked on designing the original La fighters in the open for starters in snow placing tents up around them so they could continue to work , wasn't until a Soviet fighter ace tried it out and going back to the Comrades to convince them they had a winner ... so strange the Russian thinking at time ... next thing hes Great Patriotic Hero of the Motherland and scores himself a factory.

Well, first it was a trio Lavotchkin, Gorbunov and Gudkov... the first aircraft in the Line was the LaGG-3, the pilots talking about this aircraft as Лакированный, гарантированный гроб ... Varnished guaranteed coffin. The LaGG-3 was a underpowered and sluggish aircraft, aerodynamicly a compromise, far from good. In around 1941/42 Gorbunov and Gudkov leave the OKB, the reason is unknown for me.

Yakovlev, as deputy minister of aircraft production in the war years told the OKB LaGG "The tree Musketeers", after the roman by Alexandre Dumas. The La 5 (end of 1942, first flown in combat over Stalingrad) ,

and especcialy the La-5FN (1943, modified engine, better around vision)) are far superior

, the La 7 (1944) all metall and better streamlined aircraft and modified weapons,

The La 9 and 11 are developments from the La 7...

Lavotchkin went on to construct fighters, but after the La 11, they never entered production. His last aircraft was the La 250 from 1958. The pilots called them "Anakonda", a good, interesting looking interceptor aircraft, but... not easy to fly.

Semyon Alekseyevich Lavochkin died June 9, 1960. He was at this time Major General (honorary) and deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He also became an Academician of USSR Academy of Sciences in 1958. He died in was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery.

That was one thing mention about the Lavotchkin was it horrendous bouncing on landing - many got hurt and injured giving it more power rather just let it settle ... I think we were so lucky to see half a dozen Polikarpov's and how different but supremely experienced pilots landed back at Wanaka during the airshows so maybe the best example to convey the difficulty with La's .
