VLC and P3D Version 2?

Information and support relating to this forthcoming New Zealand Vector Land Class addon.

Hi,

after some investigations about the P3D Version 2 my interest is, can I use VLC with P3D Version 2?

VLC works great with P3D2. I've put a few screenshots in my blog. There is a dual installer ready to go, but this may have to wait until Tim gets back from his holiday, as there's one wee issue which needs clarification.

You could use a migration tool to install it, the only tricky bit is the VLC config tool, but if you want to give it a go, I can give some tips on how to get the best install.

Browsing those shots, I must say it looks pretty good, especially for a near-out-of-box experience!
Does P3Dv2 have a new texture set? those don't look as "dry" as FSX did.

No new textures, the difference is the lighting -- there were a lot of techniques to darken up FSX textures, ranging from HDR addons through to just making dark textures, but P3D2 handles the default textures a lot better. Now when I start up FSX, it looks washed out, even with all my 'enhancements' such as ENB and Shade.

The most surprising thing for me was that P3D2 manages to make existing addons look so much better, just through lighting/atmosphere etc.

Yes I know the lightning effects with DX 11 are not the same as with DX 9c and this is really funny. I have time. At the moment I am in Riga and have no time for flying. Sometimes after the 11th iam back in Germany and this it is the time for the change.

Hello,

Is there any update on a P3Dv2 installer for VLC?

Kind regards

In fact I've just uploaded it to the website now smile.gif
For new purchasers, a dual installer is included which can install into FSX, Prepar3D or both. Just note that the license is still single use, meaning you can use VLC in FSX and Prepar3D off the same installation/purchase but not at the same time.

For existing VLC users, the simplest way is to re-download the installer from the website where you purchased VLC from (i.e. VectorLandClass.co.nz, Windowlight.co.nz), uninstall your current version of VLC and then run the dual installer to install for FSX and/or Prepar3D.

Cheers

Yes, for those who purchased Vector Land Class from the Godzone Store, you can now request to have the new dual installer download activated. See the Dual Installer information page on the Godzone site.

Thank you!! smile.gif

I have one problem with Nelson at the moment in P3Dv2.1 - All of my houses have black walls. They have coloured roofs but black wall/textures. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it.

Can you please help?

Kind regards,

Craig
