FSX CJ-6A

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

So far in FS history, there have been no models of the Nanchang CJ-6A. However, I have set out to change that.
Below is the initial render of the start of the 3D model that I will use for the exterior. It was made, and rendered, in Blender, a open source 3D modelling and animation program.
It will be for FSX w/ SP2 (or Acceleration), but may be compatible with FSX RTM/SP1.

The model, part 2 (more completed).

You must admit, it looks like a Nanchang.

Take note - with the screenshot is post #3, there are still some gaps in the model, such as at the rear of the wing root. They should be fixed by my next post (after this, of course).

You have approached this , an aircraft everyone has screamed for for a good few years , .... best part is showing what you have achieved tho basic - you will have the pro's to come in and give you advice and for your early render sure as heck have many to work on textures , sure all the peoples with the details will come to 'your party' if not , knock on my door and i'll see if i can kick a few chocks away !

To be honest, it's the VC that I'm more concerned about. There are no good pictures available on the internet!

If your really going knock this for a six , maybe send Gavin Conroy a mail and give him a nudge , I'm sure he would be happy to photo the inside for ya and maybe the external as well .

I'll have to try that.
Also, another progress shot.

A good stable mate for the YAK52 , Be interesting to find out if the panel has been westernized .. one other avenue for photo is contact your Ardmore or Diary flat North shore and ask the peoples who own the aircraft for a tour .

PS: i would like to no who Mister 'Medium Quality' and 'no Beta' is wacko.gif Jimmy Jillickers

I think that a majority of them have westernised cockpits, like this one from worldwidewarbirds.com

PS: It doesn't tell me put 'Medium Quality' and 'no Beta' as their options for the poll

Looking great so far! If you aren't already aware of it, FS developer is a great resource full of knowledgeable people- There seems to be one fairly consistent piece of advice when modeling aircraft- Get a test version into the sim as early as you can to check the rendering as things can look very different in the sim compared with the modelling program. It would suck to have to re-do large amounts of work!

As it turns out, after getting a new graphics card for the PC with my FSX installation, that's exactly what I did. The only thing is the Double Sided Materials in the model. They don't look quite right. I will try to post the latest images of it as soon as I can.

Alright, here's the first image from FSX. Taken near NZNR with NZNI.

I have it modelled and UV unwrapped in Blender, then into Model Converter X, then into Gmax for final FS animations and materials.
