The hazards of impulse buying

My faithful old RC model is getting a bit long in the tooth now and time to be retired. I missed out on a great buy on Trade me recently because I got the closing time wrong and it went for a song.
Another option popped up on Trade me again and I went for it. It was not until I contacted the vendor that it dawned on me that there may be some issues with the transportation of it. You see I am now the owner of a 1/3 scale Piper Cub with a wingspan of 3.6m and a length of 2.3m. I sort of looked at the wing being 2 halves at 1.8m each which would fit in my wagon ok. I had not really thought thru the 2.4 long fuselage though! I don't think that is really going to fit in my wagon!! You could fit a small child in a 2.3 m fuse!. I cant check either as my daughter is currently borrowing the wagon whilst her car is being panelbeated (just found out that she managed to write off the front bumper whilst on loan too). It looks like I may have to fit some sort of a box to my 8x4 trailer for transportation! Money is going out the door like the Oracle America's cup campaign.
The costs are starting to mount and may become difficult to explain to "she who must be obeyed" especially as I forked out a few $$ on an 2.4Ghz 11 channel JR TX and RX only a week before.
Still boys need toys.........................

That's what I call a real model.....If your "wagon" can fold the back seats down, you could consider removing the front passengers seat, this should
be enough. I had to do this once, wasn't too much of a hassle. You'd have to leave SWMBO behind tho... ohmy.gif

Just fly it home? Get SWMBO to drive, and you operate the controls. It'd be an adventure!

Now there's a thought. I can just see it now; SWMBO driving and me with my head out the window craning to see where the model is. Not sure how long his drive is though and what obstacles are in the way..........

Just needs a colon between the http and the slashes in the href part of the link - it's there in the text above but missing from the address the link points at.

If you click the link above Ian it's a 5 second job to add it in the address bar of the new tab smile.gif

Yes that is the one Paul. Nice to see pics of her flying. I am in Sydney at the moment doing some simulator training and dont get back to NZ until Sunday afternoon. I will hopefully get up to collect from your Dad sometime on Monday or Tuesday once I have transport issues sorted....might have to hire a furniture removal trailer in the interim until I get something more permanent sorted.
Your Dad has offered to get me up to speed on starting the G38 engine. I did own a G38 at one stage but never got to actually use it.
