Avast Antivirus and FSDS 2 and 3.5.1

Heya guys yesterday my Avast decided Both FSDS 2 and FSDS 3.5.1 are virus's so has locked them up in its virus chest,..googled FSDS virus and apparently there is a virus going around with the same name FSDS,...no matter what I do Avast will not let me use either of them,..very &^%#%%ing annoying !!!!,..anybody have the same problem ?

I did run into a problem recently like this, and have a fix for you.

Open avast main by double clicking the icon in the tray down the bottom right of your screen
Then top right is "SETTINGS"
Select from the menu "GLOBAL EXCLUSIONS"

and then browse to the folders you want avast to ignore (eg the entire FSDS folder)

Save and leave, will be fixed.

Note if avast has moved an exe into a virus chest somewhere you'll have to reinstate that. But with the folders now being excluded, you'll be back in business.

hah most excellent thankyou Alister ,..FSDS now back working,..my FSDS 2 is now only in demo mode ,..avast has messed with it and being so long ago dont have key code for it to unlock it again,...not happy...thanks avast

Only cos it was new .. most all anti Virus have the same issues , they all chop and change every couple years .

Got a replacement suggestion Rocky? I'm getting a bit sick of avast and these sort of problems. Would need to be light on the computer (not norton or mcafee)

I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials works on all OS even Win XP but doesn't work with win XP x64
It is free and I have found it very user friendly and have never had a virus on my PC since I started using it a couple of years ago'

I also use it on several systems & have found it very compatible.
I will probably continue to use it until there is a problem but no longer recommend it as I have been advised by the techs that it is no longer any better than the other freebies.
