Not sure where your coming from Ian, but .... i get the feeling that the U.S is itching for a war... if for no other reason than to divert attention away from the fact that their economy has had it!
We all know that the best thing for a failing economy is a war.(and if these guys are non U.S .... all the more better for the cause)
Watching CNN tonight is just amazing .... constant and repeated references to "soldiers" and "foreign influence" ..... sad as it is that people are dead and maimed , i wouldn't put it past these people to
"arrange" something .
But then again, it just maybe some redneck who's pissed off with the present regime..... lets hope its the former.

Either way .... who would know, its all Hollywood ..... just think , and question everything.

To be honest Marty I come to NZFF to get away from current affairs, dont you?
And I doubt these two guys are connected to anything or anyone in particular, if they don't shoot the 2nd guy dead hopefully we'll get to hear about their motivation. Just a couple of crack-pot's I reckon.

Personally, I think this Boston bombing is such a drop in the bucket and not really worth the fuss.. how many have been killed say by drunk drivers in Boston in the last week? probably more than the bombing. It's all relative for me. If those two guys turned up with machine guns it would have been more effective than their bombs. It's sad and all for those injured and killed, but it's just the next in a long line of tragedies that the US expects to see about every three months or so on average. There are always going to sick, angry people in this world unfortunately..

No offense but that's an incredibly arrogant- and ignorant- post. The USG has nothing to do with this and the guys are from RUSSIA. Do you really think the US is preparing to invade Dagestan and Chechnya? No, they're not. Your post is offensive, in fact. I like you, Split, but you could not be any more wrong here.

Maybe we should keep these subjects of this site - as we all know everyone has different opinions and no one is going to agree with everybody

Yeah, it is in the off-topic forum after all winkyy.gif I say let the conversation go on

As you say J7G the US is hardly in a position to be starting a war with Russia over these two crack-pots. I'd bet a healthy fist-full of NZ pesos that these guys are idealists, working independently, and not directly related to any particular broader group. We may never know though, even if the other brother survives an arrest attempt we may never actually hear what their beef was/is.

To be fair Splitpin posted before it was known they were originally from Chechnya. It is just more of the familiar Islamic / US conflict.

And I also raised my eyebrows at his comments at the time. Dear old Splitters has commented in the past that he is prone to "ranting - (his words not mine.)

While I appreciate the opportunity to comment on things that are very much in the public attention, I would like to see Political or emotional matters left alone
until we at least know what the facts are. Now we know the background to this sad saga, comments/posts can be made with the hindsight gained
rather than mindless speculation on evolving facts.

If you are sourcing the info you have on what the mainstream media are saying then you are not getting the truth and must live in a bubble ..
Some of us source and find better avenues for information , some will not and will always be a fact skeptic and those that believe what they are seeing on TV good luck to you when something really big happens that effects you and your children ..

Yes, and he did preface it all by admitting that it came from a 'conspiracy theorist' point of view. Some people love conspiracy theories, others can't see the point. But it does illustrate why this sort of discussion doesn't work well on the web. If Marty had said this in the pub, it would've begun an epic discussion, but within 10 minutes his audience would have questioned him on how deep his conspiracy beliefs go, so that half would have got bored while the other thoroughly enjoyed themselves long into the night.

So to make this sort of thing work on the web, you really need to chat as close to real-time as you can, and not hold back in any way.

The other difference between the web and a pub is that in the morning you can conveniently forget everything you said, whereas here it sticks around to haunt you forever.
