Just quickly! About to buy a new 3570K rig

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Hi guys,

I am about to go through with a $1369 deal for this rig:

Intel 3570K Ivy Bridge
Asus GT630 2GB Graphics Card
West Digital 1000GB SATA3 Hard Drive
Asus / Gigabyte New B75 Chipset
SATA 24x speed Optical DVD Writer
Raidmax Super ALTAS Mid Tower with 1 x front 120mm Blue LED fan + 1 x 120mm rear fan
700w PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit full version
AOC e2450Swh 23.6" LED Monitor - Black, Full HD 1920x1080p, 20,000,000:1(DCR), HDMI, DVI, 2ms, Speakers, VESA
Gigabyte USB Keyboard and Mouse
Pre-Install Microsoft Office 2010 Starter ( Word starter & Excel starter ), Norton Internet Security 2012 ( 90 days trial)

Are there any standout reasons why I shouldn't go through with this? It should run FSX well shouldn't it?

With the 3570K, how does the overclocking work?

It's a $69 upgrade to a Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP LGA1155 Sandy / Ivy Bridge Intel Z77 chipset mATX 4 X DDR3-DIMM, VGA/DVI/HDMI output,PCI-E3.0, Support ATI CorssFireX,SATA3, USB3.0

This will then mean i can over clock?

Is it worth it?

If not, I will just get the Intel i5 3570 (non K version) - would this still run FSX fine?

You would have it running like a proverbial time-clock , don't overclock- no need .. this could cause problems at a later stage .

You have a relatively now hi end system .. save moneys is best not to push the limits , what you have there would run FSX fine ... look after your hardware

And when you say "fine", could you expect it to run Orbx and PMDG 737NGX without too much trouble?

Yes , i would say that without a dou't brussel sprout .. maybe the G/card replaced at a later stage , that may let you down but you have to remember you would be running a hi resource program .

Replace the Asus GT630 with a Nvidia 660, 670 or 680 series GPU.

I would personally go for the GTX680 if your budget allows or a 660Ti.

Yeah.

I have 6GB ram. Maybe cheaper if you can get 6GB? But 8GB is better than 6GB. biggrin.gif
