Hi guys i have completed my new build with great success and i took the plunge and decided to fully build the machine myself and i must say i had some minor problems with the case usb ports as they had the wrong connection type for my board but i have enjoyed every minute i spent putting it all together windows 7 has given the performance score of 5.9 but i think that will increase to 6.8 once i get the sata 3 cable for the harddrive
i plan to upload photos soon as i my camera has flat batterys . i have noticed that windows is loading alot quicker than iam used to. my new specs are
Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 840 Processor True Quad (4 CPUs), 3.2GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM DDR3 Kingston Hyper X 1600 mhz
Graphics : Ati Sapphire Radeon HD6570 2 GB Dedicated Ram
Harddrive : Western Digital Black 1 Terabyte Sata 3 with 6 GB support
Power Supply :Thermaltake Lite Power 700W

Good stuff Kiwi. Nice compact build inside huh, heaps of room for expansion there.
Interesting ducting there to the side-wall fan, is that connected to a fan on the CPU as well?

the side wall fan and front fans are independant form the cpu and are powered straight off the power supply . the side wall fan is seprate but it dose have adjustable duct that almost cover the cpu if needed . i have used cable ties to help with cable management and keep the the case tidy for best airflow . i also do a regular dust every month with out fail to ensure peak proformance . my computer was amazed i was able to build it perfect on a first time build as he has been helping me learn the trade and he reckons that the board has a unusal heat sink ( the wave shaped one ) the case is one he rescued from the scrap heap and kept it aside for me so it saved me alot

So I've been getting a few PM's asking what ever happened to my new build! rolleyes.gif Well, I've only just started after having purchased these parts over a month ago! First off I couldn't decide on what CPU cooler to go with - I wanted something more efficient than the stock cooler but I didn't want anything too big or heavy as my CPU is locked and won't be overclocked. So I went for the Xigmatech Loki. While waiting for that to be shipped from Amazon I decided that I wasn't happy with my cases cable management system (First photo). So I took to the case with a rotary tool and cut some holes in the case to route my cables through (Second photo). For others wanting to do the same, I bought Rubber Channel Strip #51 from Para Rubber to buffer the newly cut holes - its turned out a treat! So last night I started the build - only to now find my PSU cables aren't long enough to be routed behind the motherboard and that my PSU doesn't support 8-pin PCIe videocards! I've ordered some cable extensions and various adapters from the UK as I couldn't find the ones I needed locally. (Sighs) dry.gif So the wait continues.....

WHHAAAAAAATTTT?!?!?!?!?!? It is modular but the essentials are fixed (ATX - ATX PWR etc)

Xigmatek Loki Cooler - with aftermarket LGA1155 bolt-on kit - efficient, quiet and most of all - LIGHT!

All assembled - or at least it was.........

I was disappointed by the performance of the GTX 460's so they've been pulled and I'm about to rebuild it with a GTX 670 for the main display and GTX 650Ti for the instruments display.......... my other build is complete and racing at 120fps at altitude and 20-30fps at max settings (No tweaks)............... sorry for the blurry pics (iPhone).......... I'll take another pic once the re-rebuild is complete.......... blink.gif

This is the other PC I've rebuilt....... its a 'Family' and media streaming PC......... hence the extra HDD's........... different PSU too Dean!! wink.gif

Whats that cable going out the back PCI plate you ask??!? A Sharkoon PC Jump Start cable. My PC is around the corner from the desk and it allows me to start and connect USB devices without getting out of the chair! If I want to put in a CD/DVD I have to get up and walk ten steps to insert it though! SIGH! rolleyes.gif

Hi Doug - Will you use native Nvidia surround for your triple screen setup or continue to use the TH2Go? I'm interested to know if there is any performance gain using one method over the other. I won't get my GTX670 til the New Year..... maybe if I can scrounge some more coins together I can stretch for the 680!!! drool.gif

Probably continue using TH2Go as it gives you more control over windows by letting you open windows explorer and your internet browser on one monitor instead of across the three

This thread is making me insanely jealous. I've had to get Battle of Britain II to try and divert my jealousy into more constructive violence!

The trouble about using my photography to justify an upgrade is that my FSX use demands more raw power and this thread is making it harder to justify what I would like to get rather than what I need to get!!

Keep going boys, at least I know what to lust after . . . . . . . .
