Continuing on from HWs post from the Karapiro Armistice Day event (hope your card turns up by the way)....
Here's a couple of pics I took today. Was a fabulous day out, very reasonable entry fee, loads to see and do, excellent location, great stuff...

AvSpecs rebuilt DeHavilland Mosquito...

Messerschmitt Bf 108

P51 Mustang

the non aviation hilight for me was definitely the fabulous Russian T34/85, used to build models of these as a kid, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a real one out there today, awesome...

A bunch more pics here if you're interested...

Thanks guys. Yeah was some great land-lubbing hardware there.

Was an awesome wee Stuart tank there too which has a radial engine in it so an aviation connection there I guess? :-)
It put on a great show ripping up and down the hill and throwing the turf around, sounded so sweet...

You can a little Sherman in that regard the track dolley and suspension , as with the little M1 the Sherm was also powered by an aeroengine .. during early war shortage of of the radial engine they made a bank of 5 truck engines giving roundabout 450 Hp .. ingenius .

Holy Cow. Man that'd be an impressive note. The Stuart sounded fabulous on its own.
Not quite sure why the woman was sitting in the turret in a tidy blouse, surely it should've had some camo on it. She seemed to be enjoying herself

Was a great weekend. My two days away from the kids. Big boys toys etc.Was there with the radio ship modellers. Excellent flying, vechile displays as well as reinactments. All for $10.00 a day. Guys in the upper North Island should make a trip of it next year. As this was my 7th one they are only getting better each year and now at the lake the orginisers have more scope for aerial displays etc. Heres to 2013.
