Carenado King Air 200

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby Timmy74 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 1:45 pm

Hey Guys,

Just dropping in to say that I am loving this new King Air 200. Carenado graphics and attention to detail is paramount! My only gripe is how quite the interior sound is (i know, i know, i know.... Its suppose to imitate "real life" but my ears keep getting BLOWN OFF when I go to outside view....), it would be great if Carenado gave a volume adjust option???

Anyhow, I LOVE IT!!

Bring on the RNZAF repaints.

WOO HOO!!

I'm glad you mention the sound thing. I thought it was just me!!! I had to do a rapid check of my sound setup. At times like this, I wish FSX would store sound levels on a *per aircraft* basis. As Accufeel almost does this, I wonder whether they could be persuaded ...

The heading bug adjustment threw me at first, but I discovered how to do it without dipping into the manual. I've no idea whether this is realistic, but I suspect it is - and the moaners are wrong.

I haven't heard/been told of a patch - but haven't been suffering poor FPS or had stalling issues either.

Adrian - don't get me started. I've had mine towed away THREE times. In all instances, the sign was either unclear or simply not there. The last time, I was parked in a pay slot (and fully paid) - but I'd missed a *tiny* sign - that was screwed 40ft high up on the wall of a building - telling me that between 10am and 4pm this particular bay reverts to a *bus stop*. That sign **should have been on the pay/meter***. Grrrrrrr.

The towing companies look (and act) like thugs or Mafia - and were really quite unpleasant to deal with.

I just don't go into the CBD at all these days - and it's put me totally off Auckland. It's a mean, nasty, money-grabbing place that's an embarrassment to NZ.

Thanks for the link Andrew, but its a bit of a lame post/complaint on the blog don't you think? The author's complaining that the fuselage and panel is 90% the same ... well duhhh!!! the 200 King Air is a close derivative of a 100 which is a stretch of a 90 ... so I think his complaint really comes down to the fact that he regrets paying twice for two aircraft which are very similar. Re the stalls I haven't notice that yet, have been doing steep turns and climbs and slowish speed manouvers and haven't seen that behavior. Will investigate some more.

As for the frame-rates, it would be interesting to know how his frame-rates compare against the 90 model which he also has. I'll ask in the blog comments to find out. Could be there's some performance issue in the 200 I guess.

Man, you would have to be pretty thick-skinned to be a commercial developer, all they ever get is complaints complaints complaints.

Altho i still don't have this yet , I have brought a couple of duds , this one i cannot see it being one ........ One horror was the Short Sunderland , $50NZ - the cover of the package doctored as with a FS PC magazine with further doctored pictures . I tried to contact them directly for a return or a fix but no reply at all .

The second and most recent was the AFS Phantom , I mail the chap and his return was out and out stupid ! so i guess you do get some who deserve Complaints .

I even have tried to play around with the sound through Accu-Feel but to no avail? Even the "wind" slider I have to clock all the way to the left and the "Engine" slider all the way to the right to get some sort of decent sound??? But I still have to crank the volume to hear something.

The heading bug thing is a doozie!! It took me a little while on the C90 to work it out. I am quite use to it now.

I find the frame rate quite good to excellent. Especially for a HD paint. I have had no issues with stalls?

The Aeroworx B200 which was completely realistic had a panel next to the autopilot with a green knob, a black knob and another green knob. One of the green knobs set the HSI. Pressing it synched the bug to the current heading, turning it changed the bug. Took me ages to find, in fact I ended up asking in the support forum. The Carenado cockpit isn't the same as the Aeroworx one so I guess I'll just have to buy it and see how similar it is LOL

Yeah, the Carenado works the same way. Also had to stumble over the click to align feature but it makes good sense usability wise. Pretty neat.

I'm having fun with it, though I admit, it's very quiet on the inside

I've been looking at NZ1883, but can you guys tell me what squadron badge there is on the tail?

Go Jankees ... GO! thumbup1.gif

I'm sure a certain Mr. Warren will jump in if I'm wrong, but I suspect it's 42 Squadron: 42 Squadron.

ABout the sound issue, there is nothing stopping one from importing another carenado sound set say off the C90 if one felt that was a better representaion.

I am actually enjoying the interior sound of the 200 but find the outside view noice too loud.

I do not want to go importing another carenado sound set just yet. Is there a way of turning down the exteior sound volume at all?

It's interesting to note that last night a couple of us over at OZx had a bash around the South Island in the 200 and found that when another 200 was close the interior sound went up quite a bit. You could hear the other aircraft well over your own.... I know this can happen in "real world" but this one seemed a little "over the top"

Either way its an outsdanding product from Carenado.

Bravo chaps! Bravo....

Yeah as Timmy says it's more about the cockpit volume more than anything. Must be a simple CFG file fix surely. Dont really wanna go fiddling with FSX volume levels coz that affects all aircraft.

Now that I think about it the Aeroworx B200 also had the problem of the sound level making your ears pop when you changed to an outside view, and the J41 does it too. Maybe it's a turboprop thing ?
