PMDG 737 NGX Instrument Panel Issues

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Hi there, my name is Jonathan Bird, im a 20 year old university student studying a bachelor of tourism management at Victoria University of Wellington. Im very new to NZ flightsim forums (as in today) but have been an avid simmer for the last year. My problem is I recently downloaded the PMDG 737 NGX software and although its amazingly in depth, Im having problems with some of the instrument panel switches. These being the inertial reference switches that don't move at all, the cabin utility an in flight entertainment systems switches don't react as well. The internal display switches are a similar story. Lastly the pressurisation switches only turn down and not up, which is highly frustrating. All in all I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this software and/or can help me. Cheers in advance. Good to be here.

Regards

Jonathan Bird

Hi Jonathan and welcome to NZFF , I think nearly everyone here operates the PMDG 737 , you will find every switch to plan a flight , radio's to FMC course engine startup . there are a few switchs and buttons that realistic are'nt required but with turning dials you select and drag the mouse across your desktop and it come alive , this also using left/right mouse button for switch direction , the cabin utility an in flight entertainment systems switches are items that have no use , example the operation of the seat belts and the chime is a little silly but it is something required to do inflight altho has no affect .

Yes, what Ian said, try left and right clicks, the mouse wheel, clicking the mouse wheel, and even dragging. I'll fire it up later this evening and have a look myself.

INS switches - everything works, put your mouse on the edge of the knob and the cursor will change to a hand, from there you can use the mouse wheel or left/right click to rotate the knob. The DSPL SEL knob has 2 parts so you have an inner knob and an outer knob, 'feel' around with the cursor and you'll find the spots.

IFE and Cabin Util switches are the same, you need the cursor to change to a hand then you can left or right click.

Pressurization (I'm guessing you mean ones that control the cruise and landing altitudes?) turn the cursor to a hand then left click to decrease, right click to increase, or use the mouse wheel.

I'd add that the NGX in particluar is modelled to the depth that how long things take to move / ignite is affected by air temperature and pressure, and I remember RSR posting once that he was in the middle of testing to make sure that every switch in the cockpit had precisely the correct effect on the electrical loads - it's unthinkable for a switch in the middle of a panel to simply not work in a PMDG plane. That's why so many of us like them smile.gif
