Wow that first shot really gives the feeling of Low and Fast doesn't it? Great stuff!
And Ian: what a gem! MATE
You'll have to dripfeed us some more...

I see Youtube is starting to fill up with some great formation footage, every cameraphone in Auckland must've been turned skyward on the day.

While I'm quite the "aircraft enthusiast", and have been since very young, I still can't put my finger on why the Mosquito strikes me as such a beautiful aircraft. It's not that it's short of things to like - I just find it odd that I can't sum up why it is that this aircraft is in my top 5 favs (probably top 3). Perhaps it's just that it has so MANY things to like that all work together to make it visually appealing and loveable... that of course only covers the visual side. For my money, one simply can't beat the sound of a Merlin... wub.gif Double-the pleasure on a Mozzie! biggrin.gif

Fauville , I do like that last photo , the edit ... only one thing that give it away ... it looks far to clean cool.gif

Charl , take me a year to scan that book , a photo of the author Alexander Mckee aged 15 , course the unique build process of the period below
today's resins and procedures would be a heck a lot difference to this .

I hope Gavin Conroy is going to produce a book on the build and current works on the Mosquito .

I reckon cool.gif saw a Red Checkers Display over lake Karapiro back in 09 - it's not a bad area to watch aircraft display over the lake.

I was at Ardmore for the Mozzy flight, One thing that puzzles me( and I have mentioned this to several people) The Merlins came with either three( early ones) or six exhaust stacks a side. The Mozzy thats flying only has five. Is there a Merlin that only had five????
I have only just today joined your forums, So forgive the ignorance if I,m wrong....Cheers Guys, and Gals.

Norman....

Hi Norman and Welcome to the NZFF forums , without going back to the old Mossis thread , i went directly to my book 'Mosquito at War' and what do you no - I have found many variants with only five exhausts , without guess - i'm saying the last two on the manifold were combined , this was one thing they did to increase thrust with Merlin , i recall given an extra 8MPH to the aircraft's maximum speed and this was also done to the Spitfire and Hurricane .

It was partially due to fear of the rearmost exhaust having an adverse effect on the wing's leading edge.

After being at the show and watching all the videos I can I am very, very keen to get an accurate KA114 paint for the JF model.

+1.
It'll have to be a fresh start, too.
None of the textures I have seen provide a good starting point (otherwise I'd have done it myself!)
