this is the post i was referring to

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/381442-csl-14...0-jetliner-out/

at the end of the day each to their own, for me as its over $40 i consider it a let down as i cant see it worth that much while many find it a great a addon

After having a look at all the forums and feedback, I decided to go ahead and buy it, which I did 20 minutes ago...

Main reasons:

- I like old-school jet planes with no FMC, glass cockpit or other gizmos
- The external model is nice, and most systems are simulated without the huge FPS hit that the PMDG J4100 has.
- Although it's under the same company, it wasn't made by same bunch of developers as the Constellation, Viscount, etc
- Most of the negative feedback sounds like nitpicking to me...

I might send a more detailed review later

Dan

- Still takes a lotta effort to fly a jet ... FMC's do diddly swat into Wanaka
- Recent Screens show the external model very much in demand and very well up to scratch
- CLS , DC-10 , the company , the only Deek out there and is a lotta fun

I'm still a little late on buying it myself , if your a 146 driver , this is the one to get currently .

Yeah as Ian says CLS do produce some nice models, and at a fair price usually. I also have their DC10, and their A300 (which is so/so really, have since scored the Simcheck A300) The CLS MD80/81 also gets solid reviews, is another machine I've thought about buying for some time.

Re the 146 though, I'm gonna wait and see how the QWings FSX release pans out first.

I think this is CLS's first FSX only model as well.

Just a little bit more into the mix. I'm still in touch with two 146 pilots who helped me out over the years when I was developing my own version for FS9. They are both very impressed with this version and told me it fly's by the numbers as long as people choose to use the True Feel flight dynamics and don't swap it out for the Easy Feel. They also said that while some of the systems aren't included those that are are a pretty accurate representation of the actual aircraft given this is a steam gauge aircraft.

They both agreed the FMC was a waste of time as the original 146 this is modeled after never had one.

As a heads up there is more than just the -300 expansion being released, which is due in September. If your a QT fan you may well be a happy camper come Sept...but I never told you that tongue.gif

Oh and a shameless plug (feel free to delete this mr admin if its not appropriate), we are giving a download copy of this away on the ARNZX website.

Unfortunately the more I fly this the more frustrated I become... I think the FDE need some serious work. Whenever you turn this plane, it generates an enormous amount of drag and starts "falling" by 2-3000FPM. If your flaps are extended you can easily stall the plane within 10 seconds unless you apply full throttle in a turn. This makes non-straight approaches impossible. In general the plane has a nose up attitude even in cruise, and it is extremely hard to achieve a "balanced" approach. "Hmmm, you should've waited for the QW model" you say, but I wanted a steam-gauge 146, not a modern RJ. The reason why this is so frustrating is that the external model, the VC, and the system simulations are fantastic! I just can't land it. smile.gif It could be just me, but I generally don't have problem with the heavies.

Anyone else tried it? Opinions?

PS: Last week I saw a guy on another forum criticizing the flight dynamics, referring to the same pitch and drag problems. I didn't think he was right back then sad.gif

Just a suggestion which I'm sure you've tried, but maybe playing with the weight and balance will help? Maybe the C of G is just aft of limits?

Yes, that was my first suspicion, I tried different configurations (empty plane, fuel-only, etc), but the results were the same. I emailed justflight with some other observations. We'll see what they do about it.

I do have the very same problem with the Aerosoft 320 on landing ( they said it was buggy) ... correct weights 'the lot' just wants to fall out of the sky also had this 146 but slight glitch in PC saved the continuation , but appear to be the same problem .
