I have noticed that these NI airports shown in the preview shots seem to be the most customised comared to all previous orbx landclass scenery pakages. I am very impressed so far. NZHN even has the gocart track outline and the PAC buildings and I think they have done a very good job in presenting NZNI as accurately and convincingly as can be done for a stand alone landclass package and as good as VLC is, there is a limit to the emersion you can achieve with mainly defaul textures. (just my humble opinion )
I doubt that Orbx will spend much time doing custom aiports other than the few planned so there should still be a demand for localy produced addons.

I'd agree that Orbx have improved with every new area, so now is a good time for them to release NZNI.

In an ideal world Orbx NZ would be VLC + Orbx textures and autogen, but the main limitation with Orbx has nothing to do with the scenery itself, its the fact that there is no real way for local developers to produce scenery for use with Orbx -- it is a closed system, so any local addons would be a compromise at best. Orbx either have to open it up a bit to developers -- without tying them in -- or do the ongoing development themselves. I don't think that either of these will happen in NZ, so it makes sense for developers like me to continue to work with VLC, with the aim of having a living, working NZ coverage ready when Orbx NZ has outlived its value to Orbx the company.

When this happens, VLC will still be around, still improving and still being supported by locals, for locals.

Yeh looks like Napier to me

Ive been looking at Orbx products for a while now and have yet to buy any, mostly because I want to support NZ flight sim developers. Now that Ive looked at enough screen shots Im prepared to say that I really think that VLC is a better representation of NZ. The Orbx stuff is great for eye candy and everything but it just doesnt scream 'New Zealand' to me. Im not trying to offend anyone but nobody knows NZ like NZers.

I used to think the same thing, but decided to buy NZSI and give it a go and I was not disappointed and will be buying NZNI.

Orbx -- it is a closed system,

I've always assumed that they were the freeware 'arm' of Orbx. I guess NZ developers could join them, but this wouldn't be a solution for payware developers.
