Here's my OLD Wilco A320 - re-installed - in ANZ colours. It's not too bad ... for its age!

Yeah she's a beauty really, I'm still Bus-ing around in my copy too.

Just to keep Ian happy, I also reinstalled my OLD Wilco B777 - just so I can compare it with the "ongoing" CS one winkyy.gif

Age ..Hmm strangely the first reasonable airline simulation was a 320 using charts and planning back in 1989-1989 - Lufthansa320 Pilot , back then it was the bee's knees - It was a real 'CLASSIC' , makes your Wilco320 pretty dang hot biggrin.gif

Airbus Evolution Series models still the best Airbus for FSX (although the Evolution models are not really that old). Airbus X from Aerosoft certainly looks the best visually, but the Evolution series Airbuses are definitely the best all-around... Not perfect, but the best available at this point in time IMO.

When I dug out my old Deluxe version - which I'd never bothered to upgrade to Evolution - I thought of buying it as an upgrade. Then I thought .... hmmm .... what about Evolution2 while I'm at it? Then, rather than risk oddities happening upgrading, I just went for broke and bought the double Evo pack, seeing as it was reduced (a bit!).

I now have my AirNZ and Jetstar liveries installed, so am a happy camper! I think it may ruin my day a bit if the Flightsim Labs version comes out tomorrow! laugh.gif

Good stuff Adam, yeah the Evo is only a patch, not a new model, not expensive I guess as an update.

True, but these are some of the risks we have to take in life I suppose tongue.gif
At least our risk decisions are generally not based on life/death situations as our ancient relatives had to endure, or even current occupants of the planet endure in many other countries. In that light, I guess its not even worthy of calling a risk... hmmm....

Should'nt have ta do that .. but generally i'm on hands on approach ... you don't auto pilot a plane to the ground .. your surpose to fly it to the ground ... course .. ARBUST as in real life has the habit to do exactly what the sim dose so i should not complain rolleyes.gif

Just a quick on and off is all it takes.

Replying is probably a mute point now given your purchase but I'll throw my views into the mix. I have a few of the add-ons mentioned and in my view they all have pros and cons.

Aerosoft Airbus X (Installed) - I think this has the best external model and VC of the Airbus add-ons I have. It comes with the A320 and A321 and includes both engine types. Systems wise its a step up from default and I like the way the FMC is functional and integrated into the AP. The sounds are excellent. I have never had any of the problems mentioned here regarding flight stability and tend to fly this Airbus the most and really enjoy it.

BlackBox A320 (Installed) - This has a simpler external model than the Airbus X with a much lower polygon count, but what you loose in eye candy I have found you make up for tremendously in performance, so it's an ideal candidate for lower spec'd machines. You get the A318, A319 and A320 models with both engine types. The VC is very good and benefits visually from a high polygon count, it also has lots of 2D panels. The sound set is very good. From a systems point of view it beats Airbus X hands down as Blackbox have programmed their own FBW system. While its a prolouge it's evolving into a very thourough simulation of the Airbus A320 family. It does have some technical issues at the moment on systems running 64 bit Windows 7, you have to start FSX in Admin mode or the PFD's wont display information, this is annoying if you are using an external FPS limiter.

Just Flight A320 (Not currently installed) - A step up from the default A321. Visually it comes with both engine types and to my eye the external model is in between the default and Blackbox A320's so is another good performer on lower spec'd machines. The VC is a step up from the default A321. Systems are pretty much similar to the default with some additional functionality and an FMC, though this is limited. The sounds are good. Its probably an ideal add-on for beginners. You can buy the A318, 319 and 321 as separate standalone variants.

The FSlabs add-on looks very promising and may well replace all the others I have in my hangar if it delivers the goods.

Ian, I too had A320 Airbus on the old Amiga computer --> http://www.myabandonware.com/game/a320-air...tion-europa-1bq

This interview with Mathijs just popped up on Avsim :
http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/c...athijs-kok-r552

A couple of interesting extracts :

QUOTE
Q: You stated the original Airbus-X targeted a specifc type of simmer...what is the target audience for the new version?

MK: The simmer who likes to simulate the job of the pilot in the left seat. We do not simulate simulators so we did not spend a lot of attention to failures, they are so rare that if we would do them realistically the average pilot would have to fly hundreds of thousands of hours before something happens. Why make an APU fire simulation when it has never happened on a real aircraft? We think that we got all the things a pilot does on a flight are simulated realistically and that’s all we wanted.

Q: Finally...yourself personally...how satisfied are you with it...did it hit the mark? is there more than can be done?

MK: There is a lot more that can be done. But as said we set ourselves limitations and have different ideas on these projects than for example PMDG. They aim to simulate the aircraft to perfection, we aim to simulate the job of the captain. That creates different products at a different price levels[/quote]

Its a patch really Ian, or maybe you could call it a rebuild. Not a totally new product.
Read the post linked above, lots more discussion on it at avsim forums and the aerosoft forums too

According to a friend of mine who flies them, the most common phrase in the cockpit of an Airbus is "Oh god whats it doing now?"

I went to the Aerosoft forum this morning and was nothing linked to the thread posted , mind it is a ARBUST after all tongue.gif

Least its a patch , I never had so many problems with a commercial type ... couple days , let see what this Arbust can do .

Strange , it seems to be the common conception , to much joystick and not enough yoke !
