Apart from more sensationalist cr@p - what kind of statement is this "The Waikato Times understands a fuel pump over heated, but an RNZAF spokesperson said the cause of the smoke was isolated by the crew to the No. 1 hydraulic system and contained."???
If you have been told what the cause was, then why would you state that you understand it was something else!
