My first paints for the Dragon are now on Ozx.

As for the other you suggest, I would especially like to do the NAC version, but the field season is coming up, so starting the end of next week, I'll be on the road for two months or so..

Hi Jan Kees,

Great stuff, thanks. I'm just off to get them now. Top class work as always. One good side effect of the old repaints being incompatible is that so far, everything is new to the Rapide rather than a slew of familiar recreated liveries. Great to get some schemes I've never had before, especially the two Kiwi ones and the Belgian Air Force. clapping.gif thumbup1.gif

The NAC scheme would really benefit from your touch, when time allows of course. Hope you get the chance at some point. I expect we'll be getting an awful lot of repaints through for this new model in the meantime to keep us busy so no rush! I'm hoping to learn to paint myself just so I can recreate some of the rarer liveries I have from the V2 and V3 models.

Thanks again,

Ade

I assume this repaint is available somewhere online....but where??!!

I have memories of flying on these "grand" machines on a few occasions as an NAC passenger between Whangarei and Whenuapai many moons ago!!!

Hi Bob,

I've flown on one too, only a pleasure flight here in the UK but it was an unforgettable experience!

You'd be amazed how many times I get asked about that NAC scheme! It's on flightsim.com, search for "dh89nac.zip":

FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Early Aircraft
FS2004 NAC DH89 Dragon Rapide

Name: dh89nac.zip
Size: 1,173,071 Date: 05-12-2005 Downloads: 823

FS2004 NAC DH89 Dragon Rapide, v2.0. A repaint of NAC ZK-AHS for the new Dragon Rapide created by Dave Garwood, Dave Booker, Saverio Maurri and Brian Withers. The original aircraft resides at "MOTAT" in Auckland, New Zealand. Textures only. Needs the original plane file FS9_DH89.ZIP. Repaint by Paul Deans.

It's an FS2004 repaint but will work with the original FSX version (V3) as well.

Enjoy!

Hello Bob,

You're welcome, hope you enjoy flying her. The real Rapide I went up in is G-AGTM, the one in my avatar (although that photo is actually from five years before my pleasure flight, as she had an "off day" then). A truly amazing experience. I'll be booking another pleasure flight this coming season.

Yes, I've been to NZ 7 times in 11 years, all being well with an 8th in the planning. I usually spend around a month over there each year so by now I'm almost considered a local. I always used to come over in the southern summer which was great as it effectively meant two summers each year, but nowadays I work in education so am limited to outside term time. The only holiday I've got enough time for a trip in is the (northern) summer so for the last couple of times I've been in NZ in the middle of winter! It's still worked out ok, although last year I was hit by that polar storm back in August - fortunately the northern South Island was the only area not affected which was lucky! The other disadvantage is I'm paying top dollar prices for flights etc as it's in northern hemisphere peak time even though it's winter and off-peak in NZ. Hopefully I'll be able to go back to summer trips one day. I don't like having two winters a year!

Kapiti coast... lovely area. I've got really good memories of a spectacular coastal drive down to Welly a few years ago.

Take care,

Ade

OK, so they are not from New Zealand, but maybe you'll like them anyway.

Dragons with a Dutch flavor:

Hi Jan Kees,

Really enjoying your work. I've been flying around in your repaints all day, in both FSX and P3D. I already have PK-AKV installed so good to see another two on the way. I had the Gelderland paint for the FS2004 and FSX versions.

One side effect for me with the Rapide is I find myself researching the history of each airframe, so it's always interesting to get a new one. I particularly enjoyed the epic story of PK-AKV in the Dutch East Indies. These Rapides really did some amazing things in their time!

I was wondering whether you might release another version of VH-UTV but with the registration amended to VH-IAN? Then we'd have the 1974 version of the same plane while in service to C. Tracey and Co. of Melbourne - and another old repaint replaced.

Keep up the great work,

Ade

Heres another NZ based Rapide. It was going to fly to Switzerland and to be sponsored by Swissair (hence the colours scheme) -but Swissair went bust (pic taken at WOW 2006)

Thankyou Jan Kees clapping.gif
I seem to be flying more in VLC NZ than anywhere else these days - I almost found myself liking FSX the other week!

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Thanks Jan Kees, great job!

I'll be able to restart my national tour of NZ now that I've got my "old friend" ZK-AHS back. clapping.gif clapping.gif clapping.gif

In fact I might do two tours now that as well as my VLC and addons-laden FSX, I also have Orbx-land in my P3D... biggrin.gif
