Scenery.cfg file location FS9

Is it normal to have a scenery.cfg file in the app data/roaming location as well as the root of the FS9 folder? If so why is it doubled up?

I was going to look to see if I did but I am not sure where the app data/roaming folder is located...

It is a hidden folder so you have to check 'show hidden folders' in the Folders options.
Then it is something like ...Computer/localdiskC:/Users/your name/Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/FS9

Sounds like WIN7 running an Apple routine?
FWIW in my XP setup, the equivalent is this:
"C:\Documents and Settings\Charl\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\scenery.cfg"
Also the FS9.cfg resides there.
I imagine these are used to reconstruct "Last good configuration" after a crash.

And a whole raft of aircraft folders I never noticed!
"C:\Documents and Settings\Charl\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\AIRCRAFT\ALPHA C-17 Globemaster III\state.CFG" shows that I have over 22 hours on this one. plane.gif Ooh wait I could open all 2,683 folders and add up all the logged time to see how much... nevermind

Oh yep, they are all there for me too (my folder is C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9)

My answers to your original questions would be...

1. Yes
2. for backup
