Who here has Ezydok/camera? I need to know if you can set the camera position a very long way away (i.e. a hundred km!) and keep it in one place while having the aircraft position move? I need to export a very high resolution image of a scene and the only way I can think to get the required resolution AND detail is to have a fixed camera while moving the aircraft in order to load higher terrain LODs. I can then take a series of images and stitch them together....hopefully.

Anyone?

You can set up tower type postions save etc fly a plane a million miles away not sure it loads the lods etc ,or DBS walk and follow which i prefer you can detach from plane position and slew away as far as you want with arrow keys ,like ive done some over head cloud shots in the past which i cant do any other way ,also while doing scenery i test my lod on models ,activation of dbs is a prick and takes along time "24hrs" but i feel it overrides differently to ezydok and is the better for moving freely fast or slow ..

In EZDok, you can set up a "World View" camera - but, unlike its other cameras, it's a bit "shonky" to use.

For some video recordings, I've just re-defined the "tower" view in standard FSX, but I've forgotten now how I did it! I suspect, though, that the tower view doesn't become available if you're beyond a certain range - which is your original problem, I think <?>.

I'll try your experiment with my EZdok and report back. It's a great utility if for nothing other than all the random/dynamic camera/cockpit shakes you can set up.

Hmm I've had some sucess by using tower views to load the higher resolution LODs around it, then quickly switching to my zoomed in camera view and getting a screen grab before it dumps that data and starts to load it at the new position.

Taking a series of these pictures and then mosaicking seems to be working OK smile.gif

Mike, in 'Walk and Follow', if you have you camera position separate from the plane position, does it load the data around the camera or the plane? What happens when you switch views?

It loads the data from the plane and the 50 km radius around it,the clouds will only load out this far ,the shadows direction etc stays with the plane also so you can never get a proper water shadow effect if away from the aircraft itself ,which is why i think it detaches altogether from fsim space into its own somewhat ,ezdok is for movies and flight DBS is more of a model/terrain explorer tool and well worth the $$ quick and ezy once activated and working ,ezdok is well worth its $$ also just for different things and ezy install but longer to set up profiles and move around ..

Do EZCA and dbs co-exist?
