I'm wondering if anyone could repaint the FSX (I suppose it's the same template if you have FS2004) Carenado Cessna 182RG to this:
I used to fly this plane very often, but my former flight school sold it across the country. It's actually a Cessna 172RG Cutlass.
It would be great if one of the talented repaints here could create this, while preferably maintaining the details of the texture sheet (rivets, panel lines, etc.)
I have the FSX 182RG - and could look at "having a go" ... though I hate anything to do with *stripes*.
Do you have any more pics? We'd particularly need to know about what happens to the wing surfaces (above and below) ... any regos etc. Also - what happens with the anti-glare shield etc. Of course, any other close-ups would be great!
EDIT: I've made a tentative start ... and will keep updating this pic as I go!
I may need to tidy up the glare shield a bit.Last edited by Adamski on Sat Mar 31, 2012 2:26 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I remember what the cowl looks like, so if you need me to draw it out or something to make it clearer, I can do that. Other than that, it's what you see in the image and what I stated in the previous message.
OK - no problem - I'll make something up ... then you can "fly" it and tell me what to tweak
Am I right in thinking that it's a slightly "creamy" white - and not pure? Or is it just the light on that one pic we have?
@Paul - I've slotted you next in the production line
@Ian .. I must admit I'm rather enjoying it!

We could see some Classic 737-200 paints a popping along shortly then

The color was pretty much white, and I think that picture is showing it tanner/creamer than what it would be at noon or something. Also, I think Carenado's default white is just bright in general, as if it just rolled off the factory floor. Looks good enough though, so if you don't want to mess with it, don't worry about it.
Also, I don't know if it's an immovable part of the paint kit, but as you can see, the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer/elevator doesn't have black on it. If you can't remove it, that's fine.
Other than that, it looks good so far!
EDIT
This is bugging me! Ha!

It may just be one of those weird things that looks fairly different at varying times of day. Whatever you're happy with in this case.Last edited by SeanTK on Sat Mar 31, 2012 12:42 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Good stuff!....presumably you have the RV-7? It will make up for missing the RNZAF Air Show

I think I took him flying in it a few years ago, but I can't remember if he took pictures of the plane, or if he even still has any if he did.
OK - great. I've come to a "natural break" anyway. See the revised image (earlier). I'll parcel up the textures and put them somewhere temporary so people can have a play.
The glareshield is a bit of a nightmare as it isn't a straight line at all ... changes shape about 3 times along its length, so I may have to forego the gold stripe there - it may end up distorting too much. I think I may need to move it up a bit. The problem there, is that a tiny displacement vertically ends up shooting it miles laterally. Also - at this stage I haven't touched the interior.
Did you get my question as to pure white or cream? The archive I'm putting together is cream (maybe a bit too strong though).

SeanTK wrote:QUOTE (SeanTK @ Mar 31 2012,3:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>EDIT: Just looked at the revised image. That color looks spot on!
One thing that jumps out is the possibility to make the spinner a little duller (it may just be lighting, but it looks overly shiny in this shot), and maybe narrow the maroon on the glareshield just a tad if that's not too difficult. Other than that, it looks fantastic!
EDIT2: Also if it's possible to remove the Cessna logo from the wingtips...
Phew about the colour! Please test fly it to check under different lighting conditions though
There's no "map" file in the model (I don't think) for me to create a chrome spinner, so I've had to set it to pure white and shiny as they come (!!). I could tone it down a bit, but it may end up looking just "white". The glareshield should certainly go matt (or it wouldn't be doing its job). I was going to do that once I'd finished tweaking the outline.
The logos should have gone by now - and the black elevator leading edges ... please check when you test-fly
@Paul - I've just realised I haven't got an RV-7 (here's me thinking I had every plane known to man and beast).Last edited by Adamski on Sat Mar 31, 2012 3:31 pm, edited 1 time in total.

About the spinner, take a look at one of the default liveries: N789DL (blue/orange/white). That kind of spinner if you can find it when comparing texture sheets.
The nose cowling area (I think we're both using the term glareshield incorrectly) where the maroon is is just as shiny as the rest of the plane's livery. They didn't remove the glossiness from it.

Tweaked a few more things (and toned down the cream slightly).Last edited by Adamski on Sat Mar 31, 2012 7:51 pm, edited 1 time in total.
