Here is an update on the high res photo Airport I am currently working on after placing the photo and masking it out now doing the fiddly bits like colorizing with one half done and the other half left to do.
As it is high res I have had to break it into two files. Once the coloring is finished it will be passed on to one of the others for building and agn placing.
Here is a peek at it with half done.

This just gets better and better. It's great fun ripping around Christchurch in my RNZAF Vampire admiring all that great-looking and very realistic autogen. It gives a real feeling of the actual city, pre-quake of course. clapping.gif thumbup1.gif

I can't wait to see how the new airport and redone Cathedral Square develop. It would be nice to have an airport that was modelled to the same extent as, say the old NZScenery one for FS9 by John Haines which was a real marvel to look at.

Top work guys!

The entire airport has changed , the old tower has now gone , many buildings and hangers have been demolished , entirely new carpark areas and increase on taixways and runway will soon be done , new commercial warehouse and cargo and movement areas and yet further plans to increase 29/11 extending into the Harewood golfcourse .

Ah, it was just the new ice cream cone tower last time I was there, plus lots of barriered off areas and covered walkways. Good to hear the quakes haven't halted the rebuild.

Latest update the airport has been placed and colorizing done now all it needs is buildings to be placed and the AGN to be redone as a lot of the trees are in the wrong place

Looking along Russley Rd you can see the difference between the high res and low res photo

Working further into the city with AGNs , the Primary target tho is Christchurch International Airport , ... the big task is deciding what you want to place ie:
the boundary for starters , Doug jumped in and produce these early results out along Russley Road turning on McCleans Island Road

The raw image showing a very hi resolution airport area , course has to be tweaks to match the current ongoing effort bring the greens inline to match the
existing photo area and you will have the opportunity to watch it grow a get regular updates

Working further around Avonhead Rd and Greys Rd into Ryans Rd and to complete the connection onto Pound Rd alway around the western boundary back onto
McCleans Island Road all in the highest possible resolution .

A snippet in around the Memorial Avenue heading towards the city , maybe a edit for the Ave defining it better , course move into the city center with a pre
Earthquake build ... course looking at a Lyttleton Harbour rebuild ... so best keep tune in for updates . Its a Snazzy project ! Christchurch Rebuild ! cool.gif
BEEP BEEP plane.gif

can get some exact photos of some of those airport buildings by the round about if req'd?

there is a guy named Matt Hayes who posts a lot of fantastic pics from airside on Facebook (look up Matt Hayes Photography) I will attempt to contact him to see what he can do.

I will have to get hold of some my old contacts but due to construction it pointless till the building are complete and the airside more less complete , all takes time . Did a quick check on Mathew Hayes .. Washington USA is a long ways from Christchurch NZ winkyy.gif

Dear Ian,

is the presently available version of NZCH compatible with ORBX' NZSI? Will the rebuilt version be? (Maybe the answer ist hidden deep in the thread... I didn't find it at least). I suppose the larger photoreal scenery isn't, right?

Thank you for the answer,
Michael

Hi Michael , the photoreal city area fits in superbly with the orbx NZSI - roads heading out of the city match an currently using the airport as well till a new model is constructed , base its a static photo (one season) so wont have the four seasons but generally prity close .
