I own the Captain Sim Yak3 , Ive now seen the real Yak3 cockpit .. really there is nothing in it ohmy.gif , .. YES my 'Precious Book' arrived 45 minutes ago , jeez the dust cover alone is worth 60 bucks biggrin.gif , looking at the new , to Alex Henshaw , it would have been like going down to your Ford Holden shop and sitting in the brand new car .. I mean plane .

To look at the cockpit photos , you then can jump into your favorite flight sim model , you would be comfortable and feel at home , not a book for reference like some people here require but sure shoots the dickens inta ya when looking at the photos . cool.gif

Now were are my PC warbirds again smile.gif

Great to hear you have a copy Ian, did you order it through the publisher?
Was never going to be a lot of writing in terms of a reference book as that has all been done before, have you read any of the pilot/restorer text and if so what did you think?

Tell me, what is your favourite chapter?

Cheers
Gavin

I am placing an order today for the book, but was pleased to see that it is 160 pages. So it is very good value for just NZ$60, that is going to be a lot of very good photos. And it is even free delivery. When you look at how much a magazine costs today then this is great.

This book is going to do well!!

smooth landings.

Direct from the publisher Craig Potton , $60NZ a real bargain (NZ no package fees) , i will keep my eyeballs out at the local Bookshop and see what the markup is .

A reference book , I go to the shelf for information and to make sure it correct pull another 3 to 4 from the case to check .. this book is a source for the FS repainter .

A fave Chapter Hmmm think that is going to take a while , its not the reading .. nothing to read , its the study and the looking .

The thing i really like format , the size by compare to the early WOW type books which i never brought because of the small picture postcard size.

Weather permitting, Sean Perrett will be coming down for the book launch on Wednesday night.
He will give a brief talk about what it is like to fly a Spitfire and also talk about the Air 2 Air flights we have conducted.
Sould be interesting, Brendon Deere is coming along as well so great to have two key people involved with the book coming along.

The sales have exceeded the publishers expectations by quite bit so that is pleasing.
Sent 30 copies out to the pilots and owners and they are very happy.
The launch went well, was great to have some of the key people there, and Bill Reid came over from Nelson for a look as well.
The journalists really enjoyed thier flights, one of my relatives won the Nanchang ride, Dan Frew picked the winning ticket so no set up winkyy.gif

Charlie Beetham gets his copy.

Katherine from the Marlborough Express goes for a flight.

Celeste goes for a flight as well and takes this photo from the Nanchang.

And one looking back.

And the prize winner grinning from ear to ear.
Special thanks to Jay and Mark for flying the aeroplanes.

It's great to hear sales are sound Gavin, I suppose with a limited interest subject like this fingers will always be crossed, no matter what the quality is.

My copy, from Pottons, arrived swiftly and promptly, but my kids have said it's a Xmas present and as such won't be opened until the 25th - at least
I know I'm not getting underpants this year...... clapping.gif

Here is a pic from Warren Denholm showing some of the Avspecs guys with the book that Warren has given them all for Christmas.
20 copies headed their way last month and the boys are chuffed as they have or still do work on some of the fighters in the book.
By the way the boys have had a sort out in the hangar and the Mossie will be back inside by now to continue with this huge restoration job.

Would just like to thank everyone who has supported this project, since mid November more than 2000 copies have sold which is brilliant and well above expectations which bodes well for the future.

Maybe a WW1 book one could be the next one? You must have plenty of WW1 aircaft shots?

Will have to see how things go.
The WW1 scene is only going to get better with more types coming along over the next few year so best to wait for a few years.
Have loads of photos already though.

Flew with these a few weeks back, the workmanship is mind blowing.
