[Renamed] Seriously good textures

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Rotordude » Fri Dec 02, 2011 5:47 pm

Just to add to the topic "and the rest of the country"

Stumbled across some hi-res (2048) textures that do not make the country look like it has measles (GEX) or just flat and boring like defaults. I think they are brilliant with what testing has been done.
I did have to tone down around 12 Spring and Summer textures as they were just way to vivid, but the fall series are perfect right off the bat.
Anyway have a peek see what ya think.

This pic of Deerpark Heights may be wrong, according some outfit to across the ditch it has full native regrowth and possibly Moa's

FALL

So if you are wanting for textures head over to Aime Leclercq's site at https://sites.google.com/site/aimecreat ... s/download and grab the 50cm project stuff, don't worry about the v1 to v2 update - not needed.

For install I did not place them in the world scenery yet but made a full duplicate of the VLC folder and copied the files into the texture folder but not overwriting any custom textures. then selected the new vlc in the scenery config also un selecting the original....

I like them... well love em to tell the truth..... biggrin.gif

So what do we need? Forest, rock, interzon as well as the spring fall winter textures?? How about the TreeX and grass? sounds like a lot to download but maybe worth it.
Pitty about the stink download speeds.

hows the autogen?

looking at the screen shots it appears to be a tad bit sparse? or do you have it turned down?

I'm guessing Interzone cover regions - large plains into the towns , 60 minutes to go and then the last three , anything gos haywire , simply have the complete texture on laptop . I'm a require autogen nutter so if Pete dose not get back in next couple hour i should be able to give you the HU .

The large plains all depend on the base world textures you have installed. all these files are, are rocks, forests, intermediate zones.

Now as I said the spring and summer as they stand are very vivid, autumn and winter are pretty spot on. I have edited the spring and summer to look great but will need to contact Aime and see if I can share them around our local group.

BUT if you wish to edit, all I done was converted them all to tiffs laid down the all the spring and summer textures in PS, overlaid and lined up the matching fall texture from the set at 60% opacity merged and saved out as extended bmp.

Good detail improvement. Cant wait to try on my system with no GEX. I am not a fan of their textures. Just something about them that doesnt do it for me. Its like they have used low res imagery and used a sharpening tool way too much.

Hi Aimé welcome to the forums, And a huge thank you for all work you must have put into those textures and also thanks for allowing the sharing of the edited files.

As Ian has said probably half have got them so far, I bet Telstra are wishing they did not have an unmetered weekend lol

How do you know what the custom vlc textures are to avoid overwrite?

Check out theis seriously cool vid of this guys 30cm rock textuers in Prepar3D. It like looking at hi res photoreal scenery.
