Shot down to ashvagas today with some stuff i sold on trademe, and decided to pop into the museum.....and Im glad i did.
First of all ,it was kind of weird to see Robs work in the flesh....everything were it should me......cheers Mr Corn thumbup1.gif

They have an interesting collection....includeing a harrier , a meteor, and on the 21st a skyhawk. They have just received a hunter forward section...a T, to go with the canberra....also a porterfield, cherokee 140, beech skipper, h500...etc etc
2 vampires, a devon, and about 4 choppers in various states of repair....even have a R22....and an F-27 outside.
Nice to see ZK-AMY tucked up in the hanger as well.......they really do it well down there considering their location and finances

BUT......as i made my around the hangers.......i looked up.....and there it was wub.gif .......a big blue Airtruk......the trip just paid for it self smile.gif

If your down this way...its worth stopping and having a look....$5.00 donation is all they ask for. Interesting to note that have 54 resident GA aircraft living in hangers on the airfield......great place.

Check it out sometime.

Yes, a very good museum indeed. Many different aircraft as well as a lot of history. There's even a part of the vostok rocket as well, it dropped off while orbiting over NZ! cool.gif

It is an ex Russian one but was brought out to NZ and used for a while before being donated to the Ashburton Aviation Museum by Marty

Here is is Ian, in all its woeful glory . . . . I guess after seeing this you will planning a trip down to Ashburton to get full enjoyment from this wonderful example of aircraft perfection both in form and performance!

Please excuse the background shot, this was extracted from a 360x180 panorama which was made maily for the purpose of showing the two vampires ....
