SHEESH!
You guys are completely wasting your time. COMPLETELY. (well for those who want photo scenery)
Have you guys EVER wanted free 30CM photoscenery? Well, not just New Zealand, but WORLD coverage for free?
Welcome to tileproxy. Tileproxy technically makes your framerates higher, so don't worry about framerates.
It technically converts tiles from, google maps, bing maps, ect to FSX, it can be in 30cm 60cm 1.5M 3.5 4.75m resolution, for FSX and FS9
here are some shots of 1.1M resolution of Florida keys:

FS Earth tiles does a better job...but you still have to autogen the scenery, and you may not distribute the result.
Perhaps not a complete waste of time, then.

There has been a lot of info about Tileproxy previously, I've recommended that NZers look at it before, but really it can't be considered a worthwhile alternative to quality photo scenery. The screenshots shown here don't represent the detail and quality that you can see here in NZ using Tileproxy, although you do have access to worldwide textures, most are just a cloudy, blurry mess, and don't include the blend masks which are shown in these screenshots, at least without a lot of time and trouble.
As far a legality is concerned, this depends on the license agreement for the map supplier -- most don't allow 'harvesting' of images in bulk, which is what Tileproxy is built on.
And of course there's the lack of autogen.

I thought it might be a good idea to start up a thread where members can voice what areas of the country they would like to see developed in detail for flightsim.

I am not suggesting anyone will take any action, but there is always the possibility a designer might be reading though the forums and like your idea!

Just to get the ball rolling, I will start:

All though heaps of the country had already been re-created, there are a few areas in particular I would like to see, such as:

icon_arrow.gif Great Barrier Island
icon_arrow.gif White Island
icon_arrow.gif Bay of Islands

Now it's your turn!

I would like to see a Real New Zealand Greymouth done
