Might be of interest? RNZAF PAC CT-4E NZ1989 @ Hamilton this afternoon - NZ1993 Departed just as I arrived and NZ1989 was rolled inside the aeromotive Hangar for I take it an overnight?.

More pretty photos , now the CT4s are least , is it PAC doing the maintinace as well ?

Aeromotive - which according to this link: Pacific Aerospace is part owned by Oceania Aviation Ltd - and Oceania owns Aeromotive Limited a fixed wing MRO.

My understanding is that they are maintained by Aeromotive/PAC and that the daily maintenance when on the flight line is conducted by RNZAF techs... thought I may be wrong on the last point.

They taxi out , ever so slightly with the canopy open , but hells it must be dang warm with a Bone Dome on

I cannot remember, as it was a long time since I last had a close look at the Red Checkers aircraft, but when I did some training in an airtourer, the 'joystick' was a single control column in the middle with a square box on the top of it, so that the pilot could hold one side and the instructor the other. Looked a bit like the handle on a garden fork, only square. Quite a comfortable position, as it seemed to 'fit' nicely. Great aircraft to fly and also great visibility.

Hope that the Red Checkers get back into the air soon

I recall the earlier control , best to have a recent CT4 driver for the better update , still amazing how warm it gets .. same with all the glass house driving pits

Good old 89, have had some fun times in that machine.
I to did some time in the 160 hp RNZAF Airtourers and they did have a "spade grip" in the middle
Did not think much of it when I first saw it but really enjoyed it in the end, I remember a flap switch on the grip as well so that was a good little extra.
All of the RNZAF Airtrainers have a joy stick, when I went from the 160 hp Airtourer to the CT4B I thought that was great but later on flying in a CT4E was a lot more fun but you get that when you go from 210 through to 300hp.

The Red Checkers have been actively flying for the last few months and displaying at the RWC, good to see them up and about, they have a busy year ahead.

1985 Landing Ham 29-11-11, I take it Post Maintenance Test flight? considering it was wheeled into the aeromotive Hangar last friday.
