I'd also like to see some more skins for this one. In the meantime, here's one checking out one of our RNZAF Hercs ...

It's a stunner of a freeware addon.

I managed to grab the startup video off Youtube ... haven't seen the others yet, but starting up does look like fun!

@connor - wasn't that the one that appeared on Trademe briefly? laugh.gif

Great shots Bra guy....but a 21 only looks good in Russian colours winkyy.gif Живи,Россия моя !!!

Thanks to all that supplied the links - I grabbed what I saw ... but couldn't find an archetypal Rooshian one ... so here's my Polish one instead!

I might even try the JATO next!

There are a couple in the US on the circuit, one from the CWAM (though I'm not sure that actually goes on the circuit) and another done up in Yugo colours.

Heard about the book "Red Eagles" by Steve Davies and have it on 'hold' at the library. Apparently the USAF had an outfit based at Tonapah, Nevada, comprised of various Mig aircraft which were used in mock combat with the 'Red Flag' students flying out of Nellis.

We have one VVS livery now available. Link is in the SOH thread that is stickied, and goes to a French forum.
It's a nice silver scheme.

Hey guys I downloaded the VVS scheme, but the canopy from the outside is almost opaque while from the inside it's impossible to see out. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Haven't noticed anyone else having this problem...

A couple more Soviet liveries on Avsim:

texture_red01.zip

texture_blue30.zip

Remember that these and other liveries may have texture file dependencies that you need to add to prevent canopy, cockpit, and wrong aliasing issues.

I have no idea what that means. Could you please explain it?

I think what Sean is meaning , you may need to copy canopy textures for example to you newly install Mig21 texture .

Take a look at that VVS scheme you downloaded.

1. Are the texture files in bmp or dds format?
2. Are there the same number of texture files included as the default liveries?
3. There should be a text/cfg file in the folder naming the dependencies? Is there?

The files are .dds. I still have no idea what a dependency is in this context. All the txt file lists is the stuff that goes in the .cfg for the most part.

The original files are .bmp. Do I need to change the dds to bmp? There are not the same number of files so I'll have to go through tomorrow and look at what's doubled up and what isn't.

I had exactly this problem with three Soviet repaints by Francis Jacquet, just the repaint textures included.

Try this. In the MiG's folder in SimObjects/Airplanes

1. Make a copy of an existing texture folder (it can be any that contains all the standard aircraft textures).
2. Rename this copied folder to the same as the downloaded repaint's texture folder.
3. Copy the files from the repaint's texture folder to your renamed texture folder, saying yes to overwrite.
4. Go to your renamed texture folder. Remove any .bmp files with duplicated names to the .dds files from your repaint (these are the equivalent textures from the standard repaint you copied over). There were 6 files in total in my case.
5. Add the new repaint to the aircraft.cfg in the normal way.

That isn't the most efficient way to do it, but it worked for me.

I really love this bird, she's a beauty and I've already got 18 repaints for her! wub.gif

Hope that helps,

Ade
