1st part of Nth Island enhanced airfields

Once again I need a few people to test some airfields- Please only download if you intend to test thoroughly and provide feedback. Ideally you should have an idea of what goes into (or should go into!) an airport and be confident in moving files around.

The first set includes Dannevirke, Dargaville, Fielding, Hastings, Kaikohe and Kaitaia with updated facilities and buildings.

There are two versions, one for VLC customers with the object libraries and south Island airfields installed (Enhanced) and one for non VLC customers which use the same facilities/ADFCADs but with objects from the default libraries. (Basic)

I'm currently working on finishing a few others including New Plymouth, Turangi, Whangarei and Whenuapai- I also have photos etc for some other Nth Island airfields but these will take a bit longer.

No installer is included. For testers that download the enhanced package, just place the files in your pre-existing 'VLC_Airfields' folder and place the elevation .bgls in Scenery/World/Scenery.

For testers that download the basic package, unzip it in your Addon scenery folder in their own 'scenery' folder within a folder called VLC_Airfields_Basic. Place the elevation bgls in Scenery/World/Scenery (Obviously when the installer is written it will do this for you)


Please let me know when you download the files by posting here and then come back and edit your post later with your comments/bugs/errors etc. Once again, please only download these if you are a tester and can look for problems etc.

Quick bat around Dannevirke, Dargaville, Fielding and Hastings. Only comment I have ( 'picky' I know but I guess that is what you want): - at Fielding and when parked - facing strip - at Parking 1 Ramp GA small - the fence immediately to the right of the aircraft lacks its end "post"!!

Kaitaia:Runway identifier in middle of taxiway - near threshold of 180


Kaikohe:Taxiway entry near junction of runways


Fielding: Missing post adjacent to Parking 1 Ramp GA Small

Trees at north end of runway 01 Hastings too close / tall to threshold.

Ok cheers guys- Changes made

Fielding elevation dropped a few metres, fixed fence and added a few sheep

Moved runway sign at Kaitaia

Pulled out the chainsaw and removed some trees at Hastings

'Fixed' Kaikohe taxiway (although it's more how FSX handles/draws them rather than an error)

Can anyone report how the 'basic' package is? (obviously it is basic...but....haha)

The basic package is good, particularly liked the detail at Kaitaia.

Hi guys- Slightly updated version including New Plymouth and Whangarei airports- Still no installer so please follow the instructions in the first post. For those that posted specific issues, can you check these have been fixed if possible?

I'm working on the installer now so hopefully this shouldn't be too far away

My issues dealt with thanks. A quick bat around NU & WR and they looked ok. Will do a more thorough job tonight. There was an earlier Whangarei scenery which I took the precaution of removing before installing your latest files.

The release of 'basic' airfields is something that is a 'test' at this stage as I'm not convinced that using default objects can really give a decent rendition of a kiwi airport....It's also a PITA to develop two parallel airports- You move one thing and you need to move two others.
