The Christchurch earthquake...

The official REAL NZ support forum

As some of you are aware, I work from home here in Lyttelton, and the town here has been seriously affected by the quake -- much of the historic centre of town has been destroyed, and the tunnel through to Christchurch remains closed. My own place came through very well -- although it doesn't make sense to everyone, a house like this on poles is quite earthquake-proof, in the the wooden poles and supports acts like huge shock-absorbers to prevent structural damage -- although like everyone here there was lot of damage inside, with anything not nailed down thrown to the ground.

My priority yesterday and today was to make sure that family and friends are all accounted for (they are) and a check on neighbours. I walked down to the township to see if any help was needed digging through rubble, but the army and other services had it well under control. I was pretty much in shock seeing all the damage. Today when power came back on I have been watching the news coverage.

I have yet to try my work computer, as my 'office' is the only part of the house which I'm not too sure about structurally, and aftershocks are almost continuous. However we now have electricity (but no water) and internet access on my laptop, so I can consider myself lucky to be 'back at work'.

The Godzone Store
This is still up and running, and I am currently able to complete download orders, and offer full support, however I am not sure when postal services will be up and running again, so boxed orders will be delayed. I would appreciate your support at this time, so don't hold back with your order to spare my workload:)

Glad to hear you are ok. Sounds like not even an earthquake can upset your business to the point of full closure. Well done smile.gif
