What happened to Picton?

Some strange mountains grew around Picton on my FSX.

Here is the screenshot: (The forum doesn't allow me to embed the picture for some reason.)

I flew from here 3 months ago, and it was ok.

I re-installed it 2 times, I copied the Picton flatten file to the /scenery/world/scenery, and to the /addon scenery/scenery directories. I also played with the priorities, but no luck.

Any ideas?

Actually it worked perfectly with the version 1.0. This was the first time I flew there after installing the patch.

This did change with the VLC patch, and there will be a 'Real NZ' Picton fix.

Thanks Rob, that explains everything smile.gif I was considering a full re-install as Picton and Blenheim are my favorite areas. I fly SoundsAir routes all the time.

yeah sorry that was my bad wacko.gif

I tried to correct the mesh there....even had a few goes at it*....but failed miserably!

*Granted, each time took a few days as the entire mesh needed to be re-created

Hey, I seem to recall that it was my choice to go with it as it was, with a fix to come for Real NZ NZPN. The fix is coming, I'm just taking the opportunity to tidy the place up a bit -- may as well add a few VLC library fences etc, and I always wanted to make the ground textures a bit less um, bright... Eventually I'd like to redo the photoscenery for Marlborough, it really needs a blend, but this won't be in the initial update.

I was hoping to finish the Real NZ Picton patch for VLC this week, but I had a flickerin' problem which took me well past my usual Friday quitting time. (One of the perks of being my own boss is an early finish to the week...)
Still a lot of tidying up to do, but at least the shadows have stopped messing about.

Ahhhh that's better- Great work as usual!

I've been tidying up Whakatane for re-release too and adding some VLC objects- For anyone out there with even a small amount of scenery design knowledge, the VLC library objects that Robin has created take NZ airports to the next level!- I'd recommend you use them (and you are free to- Just get in contact with either of us for more details)

Man that looks good! Being someone who has been past there many times, it looks so familiar in flightsim thumbup1.gif. I think the NZ collection has just jumped to second on my list of payware "wants". It is sitting just behind VLC on that list tongue.gif.

This is a bit delayed, I know, but I have made it a priority to get it finished this week. However I did need to search for files dated before the earthquake to remind me of where I was up to:)

Although it is a 'fix' for VLC, it is really an update, so anyone with Real NZ Marlborough should be able to use it, although without VLC some library objects will be missing. Hopefully it'll be out for testing by the weekend.

I always felt a bit guilty that this didn't include the milking shed, as Koromiko is famous for its cheese! Initially I used a VLC library sheep yard, but in the end I thought that was a bit lazy so I built the milking shed...

Hi Robin,

I have come across your pics of NZPN with the NZPN Patch installed.....I recently installed the patch and everything appeared great.....have now discovered that the rising ground I have off the end of the threshold of RW18 is much more pronounced than what your pic shows.....refer .

I have checked my Addon Scenery/Scenery and Scenery/World/Scenery Folders and there are no NZPN entries.

Cheers,

Bob R

Hi Bob, this one's for Rob

After a recent re-install of FSX and NZ RealSceney I discover I have the same problem with Picton as Bob has. I installed the VLC fix today which made some great improvements but left me with this same unnaturally elevated terrain. I'm a bit out of touch with fixes etc but having seen your latest Picton screenshots (wow) I am determined to get mine set up right. So I would much appreciate your input if you can find some time. If it helps I purchased Marlborough etc back in 4/2010 but installed VLC with my copy of Nelson a few days ago (I assume it's the latest ver.)

Cheers,

I reinstalled Marlborough tonight myself with a fresh reinstall, with VLC 1.1 and same result for me too.

Robin has the patch been released somewhere? I've had a look around on your store but can't see it. Obviously not sure that is where I should be looking. Bob above mentions a patch?
Thanks and regards,
Alister

Hi all

I appear to have the same issue with Picton too. I have the VLC and the Across the Strait combo of Wgtn/Marlborough which I'm really enjoying!

Kind regards
